Job Description
The Toll Attendant will play a key role in the day-to-day operations at the toll stations. The successful candidates will be responsible for collecting toll fees, providing receipts, addressing motorists’ inquiries courteously, and ensuring a smooth traffic flow at the toll gates. This is a front-line position that requires a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the toll collection system at entry and exit points on the expressway.
  • Collect toll fees from motorists based on the applicable tariffs.
  • Accurately issue toll receipts to motorists upon payment.
  • Handle electronic transactions through cards or mobile money platforms.
  • Ensure that toll lanes operate efficiently and are free of unnecessary congestion.
  • Offer professional and courteous service to all road users.
  • Provide accurate information regarding toll fees, road usage rules, and directions as needed.
  • Report technical faults in the toll equipment or systems to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Maintain records of daily collections, issued receipts, and other relevant documentation.
  • Manage and reconcile cash collected at the end of each shift and submit it as per protocol.
  • Alert the relevant authorities in cases of toll violations or non-payment by motorists.
  • Monitor and report any suspicious activities or emergencies occurring at the toll station.
  • Adhere to safety and operational protocols established by the company.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Toll Station Supervisor or senior management.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail in handling money.
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure, especially during peak hours or when dealing with difficult motorists.
  • Familiarity with basic computer and electronic transaction systems.
  • High level of integrity and honesty in managing cash transactions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to public service delivery.

Academic Qualification:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Accounting, Customer Service, or any other closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
