Role Overview
The Toll Attendant plays a critical role in the daily operations at the expressway toll booths. These individuals are the first point of contact for motorists using our roads and are entrusted with ensuring that toll transactions are conducted smoothly, efficiently, and accurately.
The successful candidates will be stationed at designated toll plazas within Nairobi and will be responsible for collecting toll fees, providing customer assistance, and payments in accordance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
Job Description
As a Toll Attendant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Toll Collection and Transactions
- Accurately collect tolls from road users at assigned toll booths
- Operate the toll system software and point-of-sale machines efficiently.
- Issue receipts or tickets to motorists and respond to any queries related to toll fees or payment methods.
- Ensure daily reconciliation and safe handling of transaction records.
- Customer Interaction and Support
- Provide friendly and helpful service to motorists using the expressway.
- Guide customers through payment processes, address toll-related questions, and escalate concerns to supervisors when necessary.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times when dealing with the public.
- Operational Efficiency
- Monitor the smooth flow of traffic in and out of the toll plaza by swiftly handling each transaction.
- Alert the control room or management of any congestion, system breakdown, or accident at the tolling point.
- Collaborate with fellow toll attendants to maintain order, reduce delays, and ensure that all lanes are functioning optimally.
- System Monitoring and Reporting
- Regularly inspect toll collection equipment, software interfaces, and communication devices for faults or damage.
- Report any operational problems or security incidents promptly.
- Keep accurate records of vehicle counts, transaction summaries, and daily reports for auditing and operational analysis.
- Security and Compliance
