This position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the company’s LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) retail shop. Role Overview
The LPG Shop Attendant will be responsible for managing interactions with customers, handling LPG cylinder exchanges, ensuring product availability, maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the shop premises, and complying with all relevant regulatory and safety standards. This role requires a proactive and reliable individual who is capable of working independently while also being a strong team player.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service
One of the most important aspects of this role is delivering exceptional customer service. The LPG Shop Attendant will be the first point of contact for customers visiting the shop, and therefore must demonstrate professionalism, friendliness, and patience.
- Warmly welcome customers and provide prompt, courteous assistance.
- Educate customers on LPG cylinder exchange processes to ensure correct product usage.
- Resolve customer complaints and address inquiries effectively and efficiently.
- Foster a positive customer experience to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
2. LPG Handling and Safety
Given the sensitive nature of LPG products, the Attendant must strictly adhere to safety procedures during all handling and storage activities. Safety is paramount, and the ideal candidate should be well-versed in LPG regulations and best practices.
- Ensure safe storage, movement, and exchange of LPG cylinders in accordance with company policies and legal safety requirements.
- Inspect cylinders before filling or exchanging to verify that they are in good condition and safe for use.
- Maintain a clean, well-ventilated, and hazard-free shop environment at all times.
- Promote and enforce safety measures among all staff and customers within the shop premises.
3. Inventory Monitoring and Stock Control
The role involves active monitoring of inventory levels to ensure that the shop is adequately stocked at all times. Timely communication with the Supply and Commercial teams is essential to avoid stockouts and disruptions to service.
- Conduct regular checks to monitor the availability of LPG cylinders and other related products.
- Inform relevant departments when stock is low to prompt timely restocking.
- Properly label and organize products in line with FIFO (First In, First Out) principles to prevent wastage or loss.
- Assist in unloading, receiving, and verifying the accuracy and condition of new stock deliveries.
4. Compliance with Safety Regulations
The LPG Shop Attendant must comply with all statutory and organizational safety guidelines. This includes conducting regular checks to ensure that safety equipment is operational and that procedures are being followed correctly.
- Follow local and company-specific safety regulations regarding the handling and storage of LPG products.
- Perform routine inspections of the shop to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Immediately report any safety breaches, hazards, or concerns to the appropriate authorities within the company.
- Maintain documentation related to safety checks and ensure regulatory compliance is always up to date.
5. Cash and Transaction Management
In addition to customer service and safety duties, the Attendant will be entrusted with managing transactions accurately and securely.
- Handle payments from customers using various modes, including cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile money platforms.
- Issue accurate receipts and ensure all pricing is up to date and correctly displayed.
- Keep detailed transaction records and reconcile daily sales reports.
- Maintain a high level of honesty and integrity in all financial dealings.
Qualifications and Competencies
