Deloitte’s Quality, Independence, Risk, and Reputation (QIRR) Department is currently inviting qualified candidates to apply for the role of Client Acceptance – Senior Risk Analyst, a position vital to ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and upholding the firm’s standards of integrity.

This is a full-time role based in Nairobi, offered on a 3-year renewable fixed-term contract.

About the Department: Quality, Independence, Risk and Reputation (QIRR)

The QIRR department is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing the risks that can impact Deloitte’s operations, reputation, and stakeholder trust. This includes legal, regulatory, reputational, and operational risks. The team ensures that professional and ethical standards are met across all engagements, while also guiding internal stakeholders through regulatory complexities and encouraging a culture of accountability.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Client Acceptance – Senior Risk Analyst plays a key role in maintaining Deloitte’s reputation for integrity and ethical practice by supporting client acceptance and continuance procedures. This includes ensuring compliance with “Know Your Client” (KYC) regulations, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Anti-Corruption (AC) frameworks.

This role is instrumental in reviewing client engagement proposals to identify and mitigate risk, ensure due diligence is complete, and provide reliable assessments that align with Deloitte’s professional obligations and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client Acceptance and Continuance Checks
    • Conduct thorough KYC, AML, and AC checks during client onboarding and continuance processes.
    • Ensure that all documentation submitted during these checks is complete, properly structured, and meets formatting and compliance requirements.
    • Verify that all necessary information is available and sufficiently reliable to support acceptance or continuance decisions.
    • Maintain up-to-date and accurate client data for regulatory and operational use.
  2. Documentation and Correspondence
    • Attach all relevant correspondence and supporting documents to client files as part of the review process.
    • Ensure case files are organized, accessible, and audit-ready.
  3. Communication and Escalation
    • Maintain open communication with line managers and the wider QIRR team on the status of reviews and flagged concerns.
    • Escalate potential problem areas promptly and ensure updates are communicated regularly to relevant stakeholders.
  4. Ad Hoc Support
    • Assist in any ad-hoc duties or assignments that relate to the broader client acceptance and risk management framework.
    • Support periodic reviews of risk-related processes and contribute ideas for process improvements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • 3 to 4 years of professional experience in a risk management, compliance, or due diligence environment.
  • Basic working knowledge of KYC, Anti-Corruption, and Anti-Money Laundering (AC/AML) requirements.
  • Familiarity with company structures and regulatory environments.
  • Experience with regulatory bodies such as IFAC, SEC, or PCAOB is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
