About the Role

The Branch Manager will play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations of the branch, while achieving set performance targets, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and leading a motivated and results-driven team. This is a leadership position, demanding a strategic mindset, sound financial acumen, strong interpersonal skills, and deep knowledge of microfinance lending.

Reporting directly to the senior management, the Branch Manager will be charged with driving the branch’s profitability and growth through effective management of resources and a proactive business development approach.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Loan Portfolio Management

Lead the branch to achieve or exceed assigned loan portfolio targets.

Monitor the quality and performance of the loan book to ensure timely repayment and minimal defaults.

Conduct regular portfolio reviews and initiate necessary corrective actions.

Guide and mentor credit officers to ensure adherence to lending policies and best practices.

Operations Management

Oversee all operational functions of the branch ensuring compliance with Progressive Credit’s policies and procedures.

Implement controls to safeguard company assets, minimize risk, and promote efficiency.

Monitor branch expenditures and budgets, ensuring prudent cost management.

Conduct regular branch audits and prepare reports for head office on performance and compliance.

Customer Service Excellence

Ensure a customer-centric environment by promoting high standards of customer service and responsiveness.

Handle customer complaints and feedback in a professional and timely manner.

Cultivate customer relationships to build loyalty and encourage referrals and repeat business.

Staff Leadership and Development

Supervise and lead branch staff including loan officers, customer service staff, and other support personnel.

Foster a positive working environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Identify training needs and facilitate staff development programs in consultation with HR.

Lead regular staff meetings to review performance, set goals, and address challenges.

Business Development and Community Engagement

Identify and exploit market opportunities within the local area to expand the branch’s client base.

Represent the company at community events and develop relationships with local stakeholders and institutions.

Analyze local economic trends and adjust strategies to align with market needs.

Develop marketing campaigns and promotions to attract new clients.

Operational Goal Achievement

Translate organizational strategies into branch-level actionable plans and measurable targets.

Monitor progress toward operational goals such as loan disbursement volumes, client retention, collection rates, and staff productivity.

Ensure timely submission of accurate reports and performance updates to head office.

Implement improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness at the branch level.

Qualifications and Experience Required

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Credit Management, or a related field from a recognized university.

Additional certification in CPA, Credit Management, or a Diploma in Business is considered an added advantage.

A minimum of three (3) years of proven leadership experience in lending within a microfinance institution or other financial services provider.

Strong people management and supervisory skills, with demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in computer applications and strong report writing capabilities.

A results-oriented team player with a strong work ethic and a customer-focused approach.
