About KPMG Deal Advisory

The Deal Advisory function at KPMG brings together specialists who guide clients through major business decisions and transformations. This includes providing insight and strategic counsel on mergers and acquisitions, business restructuring, capital financing, infrastructure development, and performance improvement.

We work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including private equity firms, public institutions, financial institutions, corporate investors, and multinationals. Our engagements span across critical decision-making processes involving business strategy, financial structuring, investment assessments, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Strategy Senior Associate in the Deal Advisory team, you will be responsible for contributing to the successful execution of engagements across our core service areas: Strategy Development, Corporate Finance and Transaction Services, Infrastructure Advisory, and Restructuring. Your duties will include but are not limited to:

1. Client Service Delivery

  • Assist Managers, Directors, and Partners in delivering high-quality advisory services to clients operating in diverse sectors.
  • Execute assignments with a hands-on approach to ensure timely and successful completion of deliverables.
  • Carry out comprehensive financial and operational analyses to support client business decisions.
  • Take ownership of tasks and proactively manage assigned components of a project.

2. Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Participate in the design and implementation of client strategies.
  • Work closely with clients to identify business challenges and design viable strategic solutions.
  • Assist in carrying out feasibility studies, market assessments, and business planning.

3. Financial Analysis and Project Appraisal

  • Conduct detailed financial modeling and valuation analyses.
  • Support the appraisal of investment projects through structured frameworks.
  • Assist in analyzing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support transaction decisions.

4. Transaction Support and Corporate Finance

  • Support clients in mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and capital-raising efforts.
  • Assist with due diligence, data collection, and validation processes to support investment or divestment decisions.
  • Develop pitch documents and transaction-related materials including Information Memoranda and client proposals.

5. Infrastructure and Public Sector Advisory

  • Engage in infrastructure advisory services, including project preparation and structuring for large-scale public and private sector infrastructure initiatives.
  • Support public sector clients with economic analysis and infrastructure financing models.

6. Project and Program Management

  • Contribute to effective program and project management across client engagements.
  • Track project milestones, manage risk, and coordinate team activities to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Ensure stakeholder expectations are effectively managed through clear communication and timely updates.

7. Proposal Writing and Business Development

  • Contribute to the preparation of client proposals and presentations.
  • Assist the business development team in identifying new opportunities and pursuing strategic clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and networking events as part of the firm’s market outreach.

8. Leadership and Team Support

  • Guide and support junior team members through mentoring and technical training.
  • Review the work of analysts and associates to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that supports continuous learning and improvement.

9. Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Understand client expectations and align deliverables to meet and exceed them.
  • Be responsive to client feedback and adaptable to their evolving needs.

10. Other Duties

  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the leadership team in line with the strategic objectives of the Deal Advisory division.
  • Stay updated with market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to maintain professional relevance and value.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA are considered an added advantage.
  • Between 4 and 6 years of experience in management consulting, corporate finance, transaction advisory services, or infrastructure project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy formulation, financial analysis, feasibility studies, and financial modeling.
