Overview of the Role
The Communications Officer – Digital will be a key member of AGRA’s Communications, Innovations, External Engagements, and Advocacy (CIEA) team. This role is focused on implementing digital communications strategies aligned with AGRA’s brand objectives and strategic narratives. The officer will oversee the digital execution of business line and platform communication plans, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction, visibility, and brand equity across various digital platforms.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Communications Officer – Digital will be responsible for enhancing AGRA’s digital presence, tracking audience engagement, and driving innovative storytelling across AGRA’s platforms. This role is central to how AGRA communicates its mission, engages its partners, and maintains an impactful digital footprint.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the execution, tracking, and reporting of digital communication activities in alignment with AGRA’s business lines, platform narratives, and overall brand strategy.
- Drive the implementation of the CIEA brand annual work plan, ensuring all activities are initiated on time, within scope, and budget.
- Enhance AGRA’s brand identity by creating and disseminating messages across all digital assets, ensuring consistency and relevance.
- Develop and manage core brand key messages that reinforce AGRA’s position as a leader in agricultural transformation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent execution of brand and platform narratives, messages, and digital engagements.
- Implement approved strategic content models, audits, content matrices, journey maps, and taxonomies to structure digital content planning.
- Monitor web analytics, digital trends, and stakeholder engagement data to inform strategy and optimize outreach.
- Proactively track emerging risks across social media and multimedia platforms and compile risk reports for internal use.
- Establish and maintain efficient systems for internal traffic management, ensuring timely response to internal and external stakeholder communication needs.
- Develop an effective content calendar that reflects AGRA’s priorities and campaign timelines.
- Identify and engage online community champions to amplify AGRA’s advocacy efforts and promote positive brand perception.
- Respond to brand briefs, coordinate with external suppliers, and ensure timely and quality delivery of digital content and creative assets.
- Maintain organized and accessible archives of brand briefs, digital assets, and other communications resources for ease of reuse and repurposing.
- Ensure digital communication activities adhere to AGRA’s procurement, grant, and financial guidelines.
- Monitor and report on online brand experiences, documenting both favorable and unfavorable stakeholder engagements.
- Identify and recommend strategic stakeholders and digital influencers for partnership and amplification of AGRA’s work.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field is essential.
- Additional professional certifications in Digital Media Communications or Project Management are an added advantage.
- Extensive experience in digital marketing, especially in public good advocacy and development contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in managing digital systems, content management tools, and online measurement platforms.
- Strong familiarity with tools used to measure digital brand equity and audience engagement.
- Solid understanding of digital media trends and brand management strategies.
- Excellent grasp of agricultural transformation theories and the broader food systems landscape in Africa.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multicultural teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- A proactive, results-driven approach with the ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable communication strategies.
- Flexibility and agility to adapt to evolving digital landscapes and shifting strategic priorities.
- Knowledge of newsroom operations or agency-client service dynamics is beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
- Prior experience working with multilateral or bilateral organizations is highly desirable.
