Lecturer, Advocates Training Programme (ATP) – KSL 6

Position: 1 Post

Overall Purpose of the Job
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Assistant Director, Advocates Training Programme. The core responsibility of the Lecturer will be to deliver instructional and research services within the Advocates Training Programme (ATP). This role will also include coordination and facilitation of specific programmes and projects within the academic department to which the lecturer is assigned.

This is a crucial academic role that contributes to the training of Kenya’s next generation of legal practitioners, reinforcing the School’s commitment to professional integrity, analytical skill development, and real-world legal training.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Lecturer will be responsible for assisting in the following key areas:

  • Conducting legal research: Designing and implementing research projects that align with the School’s objectives, and contributing to publications that advance legal knowledge and practice.
  • Delivering lectures and training under the ATP: Offering interactive and up-to-date course content that equips students with practical legal skills.
  • Supervising students on pupilage: Monitoring and evaluating pupilage placements, ensuring students gain valuable mentorship and work experience within the legal environment.
  • Verifying student admission documents: Ensuring the integrity of the enrollment process through the review and verification of legal qualifications and supporting documentation.
  • Preparation of teaching manuals: Contributing to the development of high-quality teaching materials, case studies, and instructional guides.
  • Setting, moderating, and marking examinations: Ensuring the integrity, consistency, and fairness of student assessments.

Remuneration
This position falls within salary scale KSL 6, with a gross monthly salary range of Kshs. 139,589 to Kshs. 183,744.
