About the Role
The Category Manager – Dermocosmetics will assume full responsibility for the strategic planning, execution, and performance of the dermocosmetics product category. This includes leading operations that span pharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, and high-end cosmetic solutions. The role calls for a well-rounded leader capable of driving business growth while maintaining exceptional standards in customer satisfaction, financial health, brand performance, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy Development
- Design, lead, and monitor the implementation of a comprehensive national sales strategy focused on expanding revenue and increasing market share within the dermocosmetics category.
- Conduct competitive analysis, customer behavior studies, and emerging market trend reviews to ensure strategies remain adaptive and relevant.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable regional plans, ensuring alignment across all tiers of the sales hierarchy.
- Set clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for teams across regions and hold them accountable for delivery.
2. Sales Category Management
- Assume full brand ownership for all dermocosmetics products across the country.
- Work closely with the Marketing Department to shape product positioning and develop innovative, high-impact marketing campaigns with strong return on investment (ROI).
- Monitor campaign effectiveness through detailed metrics and adjust approaches based on performance analysis.
- Champion promotional events, product launches, and B2B engagement activities to enhance brand visibility and consumer engagement.
3. People Management
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team comprising Team Leaders, Sales Supervisors, and Medical/Sales Representatives.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, providing continuous feedback and mentorship to build a high-performance culture.
- Design and implement training programs that improve sales capabilities and product knowledge within the team.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to maximize productivity and promote a unified approach to achieving organizational goals.
4. Supplier and Customer Management
- Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with both existing and new suppliers, ensuring consistent product availability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to quality standards.
- Oversee supplier contract negotiations, procurement processes, and product lifecycle management.
- Develop long-term partnerships with key clients and healthcare providers, ensuring customer-centric service delivery.
- Incorporate client feedback mechanisms to adjust strategy and strengthen customer loyalty and satisfaction.
5. Debt Collection and Management
- Develop and enforce rigorous credit management and debt collection processes that align with company financial policies.
- Proactively track account receivables and follow up on overdue payments while maintaining positive client relationships.
- Work closely with finance and sales teams to ensure balanced credit extension practices that support customer needs without compromising financial health.
- Optimize inventory management processes to minimize holding costs and reduce waste or product expiration risks.
6. Financial Oversight
- Take full commercial responsibility for the dermocosmetics category’s financial performance.
- Develop, present, and manage annual budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and bottom-line goals.
- Track all financial metrics—gross profit, operational costs, and ROI for marketing expenditures—ensuring robust financial controls and fiscal discipline.
- Partner with the Finance Department to conduct periodic financial reviews and ensure compliance with all audit requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- A science-related academic background, with a Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing or a closely related business field.
- An MBA will be considered a valuable addition.
- A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare-related sales, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Strong track record in developing and implementing strategic sales and marketing initiatives.
- Deep understanding of dermocosmetics, customer behavior, and the East African consumer health market.
- Proven experience in managing P&L, marketing budgets, and cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills.
