Position Summary
The Inventory and Cost Accountant will play a central role in managing and analyzing inventory and associated costs within BasiGo’s operations. This includes oversight of inventory workflows, cost analysis for e-bus assembly, and contributing to the overall financial planning and control structure of the organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly in operations, stores, facilities, and administration, to ensure inventory accuracy, cost control, and effective reporting aligned with BasiGo’s operational and strategic goals.
Detailed Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management and Accounting
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the framework for tracking all inventory movements including receipts, issues, inter-store transfers, and returns.
- Collaborate with the Admin team to optimize inventory workflows and ensure robust stock reconciliation processes between physical and digital records.
- Plan and supervise regular and ad hoc inventory counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Generate and analyze inventory reports with actionable recommendations for management.
- Recommend and implement internal controls and process improvements to ensure inventory accuracy and enhance efficiency across the board.
2. Cost Accounting and Analysis
- Monitor and analyze costs related to e-bus assembly and after-sales services—this includes direct materials, labor, and factory overheads.
- Oversee labor cost tracking for assembly and service operations; ensure correct allocation to the appropriate cost centers.
- Identify billable versus non-billable labor components in after-sales service and ensure correct pricing mark-ups are applied where applicable.
- Support the month-end and year-end accounting close processes with particular focus on cost and inventory-related journal entries.
- Process accounting transactions including the posting of journal entries relating to cost and inventory operations.
- Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) accurately and contribute to timely manufacturing order creation.
- Produce timely and accurate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reports and inventory valuation schedules.
3. Operational Finance Support
- Prepare inventory and cost-related financial documentation for both internal and external audits, reviews, and reports.
- Liaise with stores, facilities, and admin teams to monitor inventory KPIs and drive continuous improvements in inventory handling and cost control.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis to inform pricing strategies, budgeting, and procurement decisions.
- Assist with the development and periodic review of inventory and cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Contribute to various finance department projects, particularly those aimed at process improvement and operational optimization.
4. Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with established internal controls, accounting standards, and financial reporting regulations.
- Support audit processes—both internal and statutory—by preparing necessary schedules and explanations.
- Contribute to the implementation of new financial systems, including ERP upgrades and process reengineering efforts related to inventory and cost accounting modules.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Academic and Professional Background
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- CPA or ACCA certification is preferred and considered a significant advantage.
Experience
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience in inventory and cost accounting.
- Industry background in manufacturing, assembly, or automotive operations will be highly valued.
- Proven familiarity with CKD (completely knocked down) assembly processes and automotive inventory management is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in standard costing methods, inventory valuation techniques (e.g., FIFO, weighted average), variance analysis, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Competence in preparing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), as well as costing manufacturing orders.
