The Public Service Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development – State Department for Housing and Urban Development – is inviting applications from qualified, energetic, and passionate individuals to participate in its Internship Programme under Cohort 1. This national programme is designed to support the implementation of the Affordable Housing Programme and related projects across the country by offering practical, hands-on experience to recent graduates in a broad spectrum of professional disciplines.
This internship initiative will not only strengthen the capacity of the public sector but also provide valuable exposure and mentorship to graduates, preparing them for future careers in public and private sectors. A total of 4,000 internship positions are available for twelve (12) months, non-renewable, across forty-one (41) professional fields. The interns will be deployed in various affordable housing programme sites and marketing projects nationwide.

Internship Positions and Details
1. Architecture – 300 Positions
Interns in this field will work on planning, designing, and overseeing the construction of housing projects. Responsibilities may include assisting with drawings, layout planning, and site evaluations for ongoing housing developments.
2. Civil Engineering – 200 Positions
Interns will support civil engineering teams in infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage systems, and structural components of housing sites. Tasks may include site inspections, preparation of designs, and supervision.
3. Construction Management – 250 Positions
These interns will aid in supervising construction schedules, resource planning, quality assurance, and adherence to project timelines on various housing schemes.
4. Electrical Engineering – 200 Positions
Interns in this category will assist in designing, inspecting, and maintaining electrical systems used in residential housing units and supporting infrastructure.
5. Mechanical Engineering – 200 Positions
These interns will focus on heating, ventilation, plumbing, and mechanical system designs and installations in housing projects.
6. Quantity Surveying – 200 Positions
Interns will assist in cost estimation, tender documentation, material quantification, and project valuation for housing construction.
7. Structural Engineering – 200 Positions
Responsibilities include conducting structural analyses, preparing reports, and ensuring the strength and stability of structures within the affordable housing projects.
8. Communication and Branding – 150 Positions
Interns will support the marketing and public relations efforts of the Affordable Housing Programme, including campaign design, community engagement, and content development.
9. Environment Practitioners – 150 Positions
Interns will assist in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), environmental audits, and ensuring environmental compliance on project sites.
10. Geoinformation – 50 Positions
These interns will support mapping, land use planning, and spatial analysis using GIS and remote sensing technology.
11. Health and Safety – 180 Positions
Interns will help implement safety standards, conduct safety audits, and promote occupational health policies across construction sites.

Interns will assist in property marketing, client liaison, and facilitating property transactions under the Affordable Housing Programme.

Internship Requirements
To be considered for any of the above internship positions, an applicant must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institution.
- Have graduated not earlier than 2018.
- Be proficient in basic computer applications.
Internship Responsibilities
Interns will be expected to:
- Undertake tasks assigned by supervisors that align with their academic background and the needs of the Affordable Housing Programme;
- Document experiences and skills acquired during deployment;
- Actively participate in mentorship activities and engage in continuous learning throughout the internship period.
Duration and Remuneration
The internship will run for twelve (12) months, and it is non-renewable. Interns will receive a monthly stipend, the amount of which will be determined by the State Department in accordance with government guidelines.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the programme, interns will be awarded an official Certificate of Completion by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.
