Job Description

As an intern in the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) unit, you will be part of a team working to support countries and communities in reducing disaster risks and enhancing climate resilience. Your tasks will provide exposure to key processes, methodologies, and frameworks related to risk management and sustainable development. Interns may work on one or more of the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and Analysis:
    • Assist in conducting literature reviews, policy analysis, and compiling best practices related to disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and environmental resilience.
    • Support the collection, processing, and analysis of DRR-related data from internal and external sources.
  • Project Support and Coordination:
    • Help coordinate ongoing DRR projects and initiatives, including monitoring timelines, communicating with stakeholders, and supporting reporting processes.
    • Assist in organizing workshops, webinars, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Communication and Outreach:
    • Contribute to the preparation of briefing materials, newsletters, web content, and social media posts related to DRR activities and outcomes.
    • Draft presentations, summaries, and internal reports for dissemination within and outside the organization.
  • Knowledge Management:
    • Support the development of knowledge products, case studies, and tools to enhance the capacity of member states on DRR frameworks and practices.
    • Assist with data entry, document management, and the updating of the internal DRR knowledge repository.
  • Cross-Cutting Duties:
    • Participate in team meetings, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and provide administrative support as needed.
    • Engage in capacity-building sessions and exposure activities offered by the internship program.
