Position: Bomag & Dynapac Plant Operator
Location: Roo Bay Farm, Homa Bay
Reporting to: Site Supervisor/Engineering Department
Position Overview
Victory Farms is seeking an experienced and dedicated Bomag and Dynapac Plant Operator who will be tasked with operating vibratory and static rollers, specifically Bomag and Dynapac models, to compact soil, gravel, murram, and other materials. The operator will play an essential role in ensuring the structural integrity and quality of construction projects at our farm sites.
This position is suitable for a highly motivated professional with a solid background in heavy plant operations, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on-site.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Operation of Equipment:
Operate the Bomag and Dynapac machinery to compact various construction materials, including soil, gravel, and murram, ensuring optimal density and surface integrity. - Surface Preparation:
Prepare construction and operational surfaces by compacting base layers to meet specified engineering standards and project specifications. - Compliance with Regulations:
Ensure that all equipment operations are in compliance with Victory Farms’ internal safety policies and all applicable laws and regulations governing heavy equipment use in Kenya. - Technical Execution:
Achieve the specified compaction levels in subgrade and sub-base layers as directed by site engineers or project supervisors. - Daily Machine Maintenance:
Conduct daily pre-operation checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning of the roller machinery to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency. - Issue Reporting:
Immediately report mechanical faults, safety hazards, or irregularities in machinery performance to the site supervisor for prompt action and maintenance. - Team Collaboration:
Work in close coordination with site engineers, supervisors, truck drivers, and fellow machine operators to execute construction and infrastructural projects efficiently and safely. - Safety Compliance:
Adhere to strict safety protocols on-site, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and contribute to a culture of zero-accident operation. - Environmental Responsibility:
Provide recommendations and take proactive actions to improve the environmental performance of the equipment and work site. - Site Maintenance:
Ensure that the equipment, materials, and surrounding work areas are kept clean, organized, and secured at all times. - Other Duties:
Carry out any other operational duties assigned by the management in support of Victory Farms’ construction and maintenance objectives.
Skills and Qualifications
- A Diploma in Heavy Plant Operations or a closely related technical field.
- At least two (2) years of proven experience operating Bomag or Dynapac compactors in a professional construction or farming environment.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate both Bomag and Dynapac vibratory and static rollers.
- Strong technical knowledge of machine mechanics and compaction techniques.
- Clear understanding of safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Effective communication skills, particularly in a team-based work environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate initiative, and maintain a positive work ethic.
- Flexible, punctual, and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Hands-on experience in related operations such as trenching and road paving will be an added advantage.
