Role Overview
The Dozer Operator will play a critical role in Victory Farms’ infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on pond construction, road development, excavation, and grading. The successful candidate will have demonstrated technical expertise operating CAT dozers and other heavy machinery, possess a sound understanding of construction engineering plans, and maintain a high standard of safety and precision on site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Preparation and Operation
- Level construction sites and compact earthworks in preparation for the establishment of aquaculture ponds, reservoir systems, and internal access roads.
- Excavate, move, and spread materials such as murram and gravel necessary for infrastructure construction.
- Clear construction sites of vegetation, debris, and obstructions to enable seamless implementation of engineering plans.
- Accurately execute excavation, backfilling, and grading operations in alignment with detailed blueprints and project specifications.
- Assist in preparing the land to meet slope, elevation, and drainage requirements specific to aquaculture and internal logistics needs.
2. Equipment Maintenance and Care
- Conduct pre-operation and post-operation checks daily to confirm the bulldozer is fully functional and meets operational safety standards.
- Perform basic servicing such as fluid checks, oil top-ups, and greasing to prolong equipment life and prevent breakdowns.
- Communicate any issues, unusual sounds, fluid leaks, or wear to management immediately for inspection and corrective maintenance.
- Keep the dozer clean, functional, and parked in the designated secure areas when not in use.
3. Adherence to Safety Protocols and Compliance
- Operate the bulldozer in strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental protocols established by Victory Farms and applicable local laws.
- Use full PPE including safety boots, hard hats, gloves, eye protection, and reflective jackets during all active operations.
- Avoid equipment misuse or operation beyond rated capacity, and follow safe paths, signage, and barricades in active work zones.
- Stay alert to the presence of personnel, structures, and other equipment to avoid accidental harm or damage.
4. Reporting, Record-Keeping, and Communication
- Maintain thorough daily logs of work activities including hours operated, type of terrain worked on, fuel usage, and lubrication details.
- Document mechanical issues, maintenance services performed, and any safety incidents or near-miss events.
- Coordinate with the Site Manager or Construction Supervisor regarding job scope, material needs, and operation scheduling.
- Report unforeseen challenges encountered during grading, excavation, or terrain leveling to avoid project delays.
Candidate Profile
Victory Farms is seeking an individual who combines technical experience with discipline and a strong safety ethos. The ideal candidate will:
- Have a Certificate or Diploma in Plant Operations, Heavy Equipment Operation, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
- Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CAT dozers in a professional construction, mining, or agricultural development environment.
- Demonstrate strong competence in site grading, terrain shaping, excavation, and material handling using dozers and possibly backhoes.
- Understand and practice proper mechanical care, basic servicing, and timely defect reporting.
- Be able to work long hours under physically demanding site conditions.
- Exhibit high levels of focus, coordination, and situational awareness to minimize equipment damage and risk of injury.
- Uphold teamwork and clear communication with the broader construction and farm operations teams.
