Supporting our teachers
We offer a comprehensive professional development programme, with many local and international providers. We strive to identify potential in our staff and offer the appropriate training including both InSeT and leadership programmes, and back this up by actively promoting staff within the group. We also have links to a number of universities, both local and overseas; we are the local provider of the International Post Graduate Certificate of Educational (PGCEi) through the University of Nottingham.
We belong to both the Kenyan and Tanzanian international schools associations, which allows for further opportunities for training and the sharing of good practice.
Outside the classroom
Our schools are located in international hubs. The opportunities for sport, socialising and travel are extensive, with white sandy beaches, game parks and Africa’s highest mountains all within easy reach.

Braeburn Schools Limited, Gitanga Road is seeking a dependable and efficient Assistant Cook to support daily food preparation and service at Braeburn School lunch cafeterias. The ideal candidate should be committed to food safety, child nutrition and is able to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the cook in food preparations and cooking
- Support the cook and head cook in meal service
- Maintain cleanliness and organizing of the kitchen and food storage areas
- Assist in receiving and storing food items and catering equipment’s
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines
- Able to run the food station when the cook is away
- Able to prepare meals and serve with minimal supervision
Experience and Competencies required:
- Minimum education: High school Certificate with a minimum of C grade
- Culinary training is an added advantage and certificate in food production or hospitality
- Experience: working in a busy kitchen with a minimum of 5 years work experience

Head Groundsman

A head groundsman requires practical skills, technical knowledge, and leadership qualities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, appraise, schedule leave days, and allocate duties to the grounds staff members on-site.
- Ensure all grounds staff adhere to company policies and align with current CBA guidelines.
- Design and cost soft and hard landscaping projects within the compound.
Procure tools and materials necessary for landscaping and gardening tasks. - Ensure all gardening and landscaping work is performed safely and to a high standard while training and guiding staff on duties, equipment use, and best practices.
- Supervise external contractors working on grounds-related areas.
- Maintain all potted plants, hedges, shrubs, and live fences, ensuring they are neat and healthy at all times.
- Ensure all drains and stormwater channels are clear of litter and well maintained.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and occupational health and safety standards, including the use of PPs.
- Serve as the liaison between line management and the grounds staff.
- Rotate grounds staff periodically to enhance collaboration, boost motivation, and prevent complacency.
- Oversee KPI responsibilities, including the duty rota, BGE Works, Walkabout Reports, and related grounds documentation.
Academic qualification and Professional experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in landscaping in a recognized institution.
- Diploma in landscaping, horticulture, turf management, grounds maintenance, or a related field.
- Health & safety training (e.g., COSHH, risk assessments, manual handling)—Preferred
- Experience managing a small team and coordinating rotas or schedules
- Experience with grounds equipment and machinery (e.g., mowers, strimmers, irrigation systems)
Key competencies:
- Knowledge of horticultural practices and landscaping & pest control management
- Good understanding of turf care, tree maintenance, and seasonal planting
- Budgeting and resource planning
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Landscaping: planting, pruning, and maintaining trees, shrubs, flower plants, and other landscaping features
- Communication skills — especially with staff, vendors, and management
- Written reporting (e.g. maintenance logs, risk assessments, walkabout reports)
- Demonstrates proactiveness, strong organisational and planning skills, and effective leadership with the ability to lead from the front.
- Strong work ethic and high standards of maintenance
- Able to perform duties under pressure with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with sustainability practices (e.g. composting, water conservation etc)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, excel, outlook, google drive)

Human Resource Assistant

Braeburn Schools Limited is seeking a Human Resource Assistant for Braeside Thika who will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Human Resource Department. This role involves managing HR records, data entry, coordinating HR processes and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for human resource matters, offering advice and guidance to staff in accordance with established HR policies.
- Support in the recruitment and selection process
- Ensure smooth onboarding of staff.
- Maintain accurate and up to date employee records and files, including personal information, employment history, benefits and attendance and other administrative records.
- Manage employee medical schemes, including enrollment, claims and renewals (for union and admin staff members)
- Process overtime records, ensuring accurate calculations and timely payments.
- Order and distribute staff badges and other HR related materials.
- Scan and submit various HR documents to designated destinations, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
- Update HR google drive and SCR with relevant information.
- Coordinate the renewal of good conduct certificates for staff
- Complete safer recruitment checklists for new employees
- Arrange transportation and documents for staff visiting government offices; immigration, NSSF NHIF and KRA (for official purposes).
- Support in the disciplinary process and ensure proper documentation and records
- Monitor and manager staff leave records, duty rotas and emergency covers.
- Ensure smooth off boarding of the staff.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Experience and Competencies required:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field
- At least 2 – 3years of previous experience in the human resources department preferably in an international school set up.
- Member of IHRM
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
- Good understanding of employment laws
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, Google platform.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
