To strengthen the visibility and impact of its learning and capacity development programs, the GLF is seeking a qualified and motivated Learning Communications Consultant to join its team. Through its events, learning programs, and partnerships, GLF empowers stakeholders at all levels—ranging from grassroots communities to policymakers and donors—to take transformative action in creating productive, prosperous, equitable, and resilient landscapes.
GLF’s five thematic pillars—food and livelihoods, landscape restoration, rights, finance, and measuring progress—reflect the complexity and interconnectedness of sustainable development. As global attention to these issues intensifies, the GLF is expanding its capacity development and education initiatives through the GLF Landscape Academy and its Digital Campus.
To support this ambitious effort, GLF is hiring a Learning Communications Consultant who will lead strategic communication initiatives, create engaging content, and enhance learner engagement through digital platforms.

Role Overview
The Learning Communications Consultant will play a central role in promoting the GLF Landscape Academy, Digital Campus, and related initiatives, such as the Restoration Education program. The consultant will craft and execute strategic communication campaigns, enhance online visibility, and foster engagement among learners, donors, and stakeholders across diverse regions and sectors.
This position requires a high degree of collaboration with internal teams (including GLF Digital Communications and CIFOR-ICRAF Communications) and external partners. The consultant must have a flair for translating complex sustainability and learning topics into compelling and accessible narratives suitable for global audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communications Advisory
- Provide expert advice on communication strategies to elevate the visibility of GLF learning and capacity development efforts.
- Identify key target audiences, prioritize digital channels, and develop clear messaging tailored to different geographical regions.
- Monitor industry trends and advise on emerging tools and techniques in sustainability and digital learning communications.
2. Digital Campaign Development and Execution
- Collaborate with the GLF Digital Communications and CIFOR-ICRAF Communications teams to design and implement digital campaigns that spotlight the Landscape Academy, Digital Campus, and Restoration Education program.
- Plan outreach strategies before, during, and after events or learning launches to maximize engagement and learner participation.
- Utilize data-driven insights to refine messaging and improve campaign performance.
3. Content Creation and Distribution
- Develop high-quality content, including news articles, newsletters, social media assets, reports, media releases, and other digital communications.
- Ensure content is tailored for diverse stakeholders including donors, learners, partners, and general audiences.
- Maintain consistency in tone, language, and design across all learning communications materials.
- Write and schedule regular posts to drive sustained engagement with GLF educational offerings.
4. Collaboration and Internal Coordination
- Work closely with GLF and CIFOR-ICRAF Learning and Communications teams to ensure coherent messaging and branding across all platforms.
- Support collaborative planning sessions and communication alignment meetings across relevant departments.
- Serve as a liaison between technical content creators and the digital outreach teams.
5. Innovation in Digital Learning Tools
- Research and explore new digital solutions, including AI-driven tools, that can enhance user experiences, personalize learning, and increase engagement.
- Recommend and test innovative platforms or methods to improve content delivery and reach.
- Contribute to the design of future-facing communication and learning models.
6. Learning Events Promotion and Execution
- Coordinate and promote in-person, online, and hybrid learning activities organized by the GLF Landscape Academy.
- Ensure strong alignment between learning objectives and outreach tactics during event planning and execution.
- Oversee logistical communication plans and post-event follow-up materials.
7. Website and Digital Campus Management
- Oversee the management of content updates on the GLF Landscape Academy, Digital Campus, and Restoration Education websites.
- Work closely with web developers and user experience teams to implement SEO improvements and enhance user navigation (UX/UI).
- Regularly audit site content for accuracy, freshness, and alignment with campaign goals.
8. Online Community Engagement
- Moderate and manage learning communities on the GLF Digital Campus.
- Post relevant content, answer queries, and foster discussions that add value to learners and stakeholders.
- Ensure community interaction is directed toward GLF learning platforms and services.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in sustainability, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in communications and media outreach, preferably in the sustainability or development sectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of communication strategies for capacity development and education activities.
- Strong background in digital learning platforms, online course promotion, and e-learning communities.
- Previous experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership management, and project coordination.
- Excellent command of English (native or near-native). Proficiency in French is highly desirable; additional skills in Spanish or German are an asset.
- Familiarity with diverse global audiences and sensitivity to cross-cultural communication.
- Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
