CITAM is currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced, and spiritually mature individual to serve as an Adventure Park Safety Officer. This role is instrumental in delivering a world-class adventure experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism at the CITAM Adventure Park.

The Adventure Park Safety Officer will play a vital role in overseeing daily activities, interacting with guests, ensuring equipment is maintained, and creating memorable experiences through fun, yet safe, outdoor engagements.
Job Summary
The Adventure Park Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety, entertainment, and comfort of guests and staff engaged in various adventure park activities. These activities include ziplining, high ropes courses, sky biking, scary bridges, archery, and other experiential elements of the park.
This role requires a high level of physical fitness, a strong grasp of safety and risk management procedures, and excellent interpersonal communication. The position will report directly to the Resort Manager and requires full-time availability, including weekends and holidays when visitor traffic is at its peak.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Safety and Equipment Oversight
- Conduct routine inspections of all equipment used in the Adventure Park, including zip lines, harnesses, helmets, ropes, and high platforms.
- Identify and report damaged, worn-out, or potentially hazardous equipment promptly.
- Ensure all adventure activity gear is in proper working condition before any guest uses it.
- Maintain records of equipment checks and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations pertaining to recreational facilities.
- Guest Preparation and Gear Fitting
- Ensure all guests sign indemnity forms before participating in any activity.
- Properly fit each guest with safety equipment, ensuring everything is secure and comfortable.
- Verify age, weight, and health eligibility of guests before allowing participation in any high-risk activities.
- Instruct guests on safety protocols, usage of equipment, and activity procedures in a clear and engaging manner.
- Customer Engagement and Guest Services
- Welcome guests to the Adventure Park and create a friendly, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere.
- Answer questions related to park activities and ensure that all guests feel supported and confident before starting.
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally while maintaining a calm and service-oriented demeanor.
- Facilitate all activities with enthusiasm, ensuring that guests have a fun and memorable experience.
- Operational Coordination
- Work closely with the Reservation Office to manage daily bookings and ensure capacity limits are respected.
- Monitor guest arrivals, activity schedules, and timing to maintain a smooth operation throughout the day.
- Keep accurate records of guest attendance, payments, and inventory levels of safety gear and supplies.
- Coordinate staff schedules as needed to ensure adequate coverage and service delivery.
- Facility Maintenance and Upkeep
- Conduct routine cleaning and organization of the adventure park, including both activity areas and guest spaces.
- Monitor the condition of structures such as bridges, platforms, and support poles and arrange for any necessary repairs.
- Ensure the park is visually appealing and that all signage, ropes, safety zones, and pathways are in order.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and submit monthly reports detailing the operational status of the park, safety concerns, and customer feedback.
- Include in the report clear recommendations for improvements or investments required.
- Record all incidents and accidents accurately and comprehensively using CITAM’s internal reporting system.
- Review incident reports with the Resort Manager and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Emergency Response and First Aid
- Be prepared to administer first aid in case of minor injuries or emergencies during adventure park activities.
- Coordinate with external medical teams in cases requiring hospital transfers or professional medical assistance.
- Lead and participate in routine safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Team Leadership and Staff Coordination
- Provide daily oversight of any support staff or interns working at the Adventure Park.
- Offer on-the-job training for new staff and assist in developing their competency in activity facilitation and safety management.
- Foster a team culture rooted in Christian values, teamwork, accountability, and service.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this exciting and meaningful role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a born-again, mature Christian who aligns with and lives by the CITAM statement of faith.
- Hold a Diploma in Sports Science and Management or an equivalent qualification.
- Be a KCSE graduate.
- Must have undergone safety and health training, with a focus on working at heights and first aid certification.
- Have at least 2 years of experience in a resort or adventure park setting, particularly in ziplining, high ropes, and sky biking operations.
- Be physically capable of climbing stairs and working at height, as the job involves direct supervision and participation in high-elevation activities.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests of all ages.
- Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions while maintaining high energy and alertness.
- Possess the ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
