About the Department – QIRR and OGC
The QIRR & OGC department is the guardian of Deloitte’s professional independence, ethical conduct, and risk management policies. The team is tasked with managing a wide array of potential risks that could affect the firm’s operations, including reputational, legal, regulatory, and operational risks.
Risk Management at Deloitte is not merely about policy enforcement. It is a proactive function involving continuous evaluation of risk exposure, educating teams on regulatory and ethical standards, and maintaining systems that ensure compliance. Central to this function is the Global Independence Monitoring System (GIMS), which helps professionals manage and report personal and immediate family members’ financial interests to avoid conflicts of interest and maintain independence.
Position Summary: Risk Analyst – Independence (GIMS Service Centre)
This role is designed for a professional who is analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring the integrity of Deloitte’s global independence standards. As a Risk Analyst, you will provide essential support to Deloitte Africa practitioners by managing independence-related information within the GIMS platform. You will work closely with the Senior Manager, Independence Director, and GIMS users across Africa to ensure proper compliance and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
The Risk Analyst will take ownership of a range of duties to support the firm’s independence processes and protocols. These responsibilities fall under several performance areas as detailed below:
1. Strategic Impact
- Execute tasks in line with the strategic direction provided by the Director of Independence.
- Support implementation of internal control processes to meet quality standards.
- Maintain awareness of evolving global independence regulations, communicating changes and implications to practitioners.
- Contribute to the firm’s independence compliance by aligning daily tasks with strategic goals.
2. Independence Subject Matter Expertise
- Conduct timely and accurate reviews of holdings and disclosures in the GIMS platform.
- Update user and immediate family member portfolio data with precision and completeness.
- Manage uploads of holdings added by users along with the necessary supporting documents.
- Offer prompt and reliable assistance to GIMS users for system navigation and data queries.
- Escalate potential breaches of independence requirements to the appropriate personnel swiftly.
- Support the Senior Manager in resolving dashboard action items and overdue tasks.
- Follow up with practitioners who have missed compliance deadlines and escalate when necessary.
- Facilitate smooth onboarding of new users into the GIMS platform, ensuring full and accurate enrollment.
3. Development of Self and Team
- Engage in training sessions, e-learning, and knowledge-sharing activities aimed at educating practitioners on independence requirements.
- Assist in drafting and distributing globally mandated communications in accordance with the QIRR communication plan.
