About the Department: Valuation, Modelling & Insights (VMI)

Deloitte’s Valuation, Modelling & Insights (VMI) team is a specialized division within the broader Consulting services that tackles complex business and transaction challenges. It provides actionable insights and data-backed advisory to assist clients in strategic, financial, and compliance decisions. The team’s work is grounded in technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and industry-leading tools.

Key focus areas of the department include:

  • Independent business valuations
  • Financial reporting valuations, such as Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) and goodwill impairment reviews
  • Intellectual property and intangible asset valuations for tax and transactional purposes
  • Transaction-related valuations for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), divestitures, and restructuring
  • Strategic financial advisory services
  • Development and review of advanced financial models

As part of this elite team, you will work closely with senior clients, Deloitte leadership, and global peers to provide well-rounded solutions that span the full spectrum of business and financial advisory.

Position Overview: Manager – Valuations & Modelling

The Manager – Valuations & Modelling will take on a leadership role in managing and executing client engagements, providing high-quality deliverables, and supporting the continued growth and strategic positioning of the VMI practice in the region. This role requires deep expertise in valuation methodologies, financial modelling, project management, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engagement Execution and Management
    • Lead the management and delivery of complex valuation and modelling assignments across multiple industries.
    • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of client deliverables with high attention to detail and technical accuracy.
    • Conduct detailed reviews of engagement work products, ensuring alignment with Deloitte’s quality standards and client expectations.
    • Manage multiple concurrent assignments, balancing timelines, priorities, and client communications effectively.
  2. People Leadership and Talent Development
    • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level staff, providing both on-the-job coaching and formal training opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative team culture focused on continuous learning, high performance, and mutual respect.
    • Identify individual development needs within the team and recommend relevant growth initiatives.
  3. Client Relationship Management
    • Develop deep insights into client businesses, industries, and strategic goals to offer tailored valuation and financial solutions.
    • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with clients through effective communication and delivery of high-value engagements.
    • Lead or participate in client meetings, proposal development, and strategic planning sessions.
  4. Risk Management and Compliance
    • Ensure all client and engagement acceptance processes are diligently followed.
    • Maintain appropriate documentation and quality assurance checks on each assignment to mitigate risks.
    • Keep abreast of evolving financial regulations, valuation standards, and global best practices.
  5. Practice Development
    • Actively contribute to the VMI team’s strategic direction and long-term planning efforts.
    • Support business development initiatives including responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), creating pitch materials, and participating in external thought leadership activities.
    • Develop and refine service offerings to respond to emerging market needs and evolving client expectations.
  6. Financial Oversight
    • Manage engagement economics, including budgeting, billing, collections, and profitability tracking.
    • Coordinate with internal finance and project management teams to ensure optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency.
    • Provide periodic reporting on engagement performance and propose corrective measures where needed.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Leverage the broader Deloitte network to identify cross-service line opportunities and provide holistic client solutions.
    • Engage with teams across Consulting, Tax & Legal, Audit & Assurance, and Risk Advisory to expand the value delivered to clients.

Key Competencies and Capabilities

To excel in this role, candidates are expected to demonstrate the following:

  • Technical expertise in financial modelling and business valuation, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), market multiple, and asset-based valuation methods.
  • Sound knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to valuations.
  • Effective project management capabilities, including scoping, resource allocation, risk control, and budget monitoring.
  • Excellent leadership qualities with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Adept at preparing and delivering client presentations and reports.
  • Business development acumen, including experience in proposal development and client pitching.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and navigate complex client relationships.
  • Commitment to quality, integrity, and professional ethics.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, or ACCA are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in valuation, corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, or professional services.
