Overview of the Role
The Junior Analyst will provide critical support in executing departmental projects, managing forecasting models, improving reporting functions, and contributing to data-driven initiatives such as machine learning and AI. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with teams such as Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure that data management practices align with organizational goals.
This role demands a keen eye for detail, robust technical proficiency, and the ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights. It is best suited for a professional with a strong foundation in analytics and programming and a passion for continuous improvement in a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Forecasting and Model Management
The Junior Analyst will be responsible for managing, executing, and improving a variety of forecasting models designed to support strategic business decisions.
- Execute and maintain dynamic forecasting models, including those based on run-rates, seasonal variations, and promotional activities.
- Continuously track forecast performance against actuals to detect variances early and recalibrate models to protect business margins.
- Ensure that model assumptions, updates, and performance metrics are accurately documented and versioned for future reference.
2. Automation and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)
Efficiency and accuracy in data processing are at the core of this role. The successful candidate will be involved in creating automated data pipelines.
- Develop and deploy Python scripts to facilitate ETL processes, sourcing data from systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), SFA (Sales Force Automation), and Excel.
- Perform data transformation and validation before loading it into analytical data repositories.
- Schedule and monitor automated ETL pipelines and Power BI dataflows to ensure real-time reporting and minimal system downtime.
3. Reporting and Visualization
The Junior Analyst will take the lead in designing and updating self-service dashboards and responding to ad-hoc reporting needs.
- Build and continuously improve Power BI dashboards tailored for different departments, including Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance.
- Provide timely responses to ad-hoc reporting requests, ensuring insights are delivered within tight timeframes.
- Drive the adoption of self-service reporting by designing user-friendly and insightful visualizations.
4. Machine Learning and AI Initiatives
In line with HACO’s digital transformation goals, the Junior Analyst will contribute to ML/AI-related projects and explore new opportunities in predictive analytics.
- Prototype and implement machine learning models for use cases such as time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and demand sensing.
- Conduct feasibility studies and pilot tests to evaluate the integration potential of emerging AI tools into HACO’s operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to scale ML/AI solutions into production environments for real-time application.
5. Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration
Beyond data and analytics, this role requires strong coordination and communication with other departments to meet business objectives.
- Act as the data liaison in cross-functional projects such as the deployment of Sales Force Automation and IT-related initiatives.
- Gather data requirements, track project progress, and contribute to user acceptance testing (UAT) and training activities.
- Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions to understand data needs, present analytical findings, and support tool adoption.
6. Issue Tracking and Continuous Improvement
Ensuring data accuracy and process reliability is crucial to the Junior Analyst’s role.
- Log and resolve data quality issues in coordination with IT and relevant business teams.
- Identify opportunities for improving data integrity by proposing validation rules, alerting mechanisms, and documentation standards.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and knowledge bases to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Technical Skills and Experience
Educational Background:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related disciplines.
Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
Technical Proficiencies:
- Programming: Strong hands-on experience in Python, particularly with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn. Ability to write modular and clean code is essential.
- Databases: Proficiency in SQL, including experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server. Ability to design and maintain normalized data models.
- Business Intelligence: Mastery of Power BI, including DAX functions, creation of dataflows, and linking data from multiple sources.
- Excel: Advanced use of Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and VBA/macros for automation.
- Collaboration Tools: Familiarity with Git for version control and Jira or similar platforms for issue tracking.
- Bonus Advantage: Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric platform components such as Data Factory, Synapse, and Power is highly desirable.
