The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has officially concluded the 2025 Internship Programme recruitment process with the release of the final list of appointed interns. This milestone marks the culmination of a competitive selection process that began in early 2025, drawing participation from thousands of recent graduates across Kenya. The programme, now in its latest cycle, reflects JSC’s ongoing commitment to developing young talent for the country’s judicial and public service sectors.

From Advertisement to Application: Building Interest and Opportunity

The 2025 internship cycle was launched with a public call for applications earlier in the year. With an advertised closing date of May 8, 2025, the JSC extended an invitation to eligible graduates in both diploma and degree categories.

The structure of the internship was carefully designed to accommodate two categories:

  1. Degree Internship Programme
    • Target group: Holders of relevant bachelor’s degrees
    • Monthly stipend: KES 25,000
  2. Diploma Internship Programme
    • Target group: Holders of diplomas from recognized institutions
    • Monthly stipend: KES 20,000

Shortlisting: A Rigorous Selection Phase

After the application window closed on May 8, the JSC embarked on a vetting process to identify candidates with suitable qualifications, professional potential, and a commitment to public service. A total of 546 candidates were shortlisted from a competitive pool of applicants for the available 209 internship slots.

The shortlisting reflected the diversity of disciplines and regions, ensuring inclusivity while maintaining high standards of merit and transparency. The shortlisted candidates were informed of the next phase of recruitment: a remote interview.

Interview Process: Remote, Inclusive, and Efficient

In keeping with modern recruitment standards and the need for accessibility, the JSC scheduled interviews for June 25, 2025. All interviews were conducted, providing candidates across the country with an equal opportunity to participate without the burden of travel.

  2. Collection of Appointment Letters: Interns will be formally notified—via SMS—of when and where to collect their appointment letters. These must be picked in person at the JSC offices. Third-party collections are not permitted.
  3. Integrity Reminder: Candidates are cautioned that presenting forged or falsified documents is a criminal offense and will be prosecuted.

The JSC reiterates that its recruitment processes are free of charge, and any solicitation of bribes or undue influence should be reported to the appropriate authorities.

A Commitment to Youth Empowerment

Through this programme, the Judiciary continues to serve as a training ground for future public servants, legal practitioners, and administrative professionals. By engaging interns in real-world legal and administrative work, the JSC is not only bridging the gap between academia and professional service but also promoting national development.

The commission has also extended appreciation to all applicants, especially those who were not successful this year, encouraging them to apply for future opportunities.
