About the Role
As a Business Systems Analyst at Penda Health, you will be responsible for supporting and optimizing the clinical and business systems that power our operations. This includes systems such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Your role will involve analyzing workflows, identifying areas for improvement, and designing digital solutions that enhance patient care and streamline internal operations.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams, system users, and external vendors to ensure that our platforms are functioning optimally and continue evolving in line with business needs. From technical support to process documentation and system automation, your efforts will directly contribute to the overall effectiveness of healthcare delivery at Penda Health.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake a range of duties, including but not limited to the following:
1. Workflow Analysis and System Optimization
- Partner with end users and cross-functional teams to understand workflows and identify pain points or inefficiencies.
- Conduct thorough business needs assessments and translate findings into system requirements.
- Recommend process improvements and digital solutions that align with organizational objectives and user needs.
2. First-Line Technical Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for application-related issues within key platforms such as EMR and ERP.
- Provide first-line technical support to ensure timely issue resolution in line with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor system performance and usage patterns to proactively address emerging issues.
3. Documentation and Training
- Develop clear, concise documentation including process flows, user manuals, standard operating procedures, and FAQs.
- Create training materials and deliver end-user training sessions to support system adoption and optimal usage.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by gathering feedback and updating documentation accordingly.
4. System Enhancement and Vendor Collaboration
- Collaborate with system vendors and internal stakeholders to plan, test, and implement system updates or enhancements.
- Participate in system configuration, version upgrades, and change management activities.
- Assist in system testing, including functional testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
5. Automation and Data Management
- Design and implement automated workflows to reduce manual tasks and improve process efficiency.
- Support data integrity initiatives by identifying and addressing inconsistencies or errors in data entries across systems.
- Work with database administrators and IT personnel to maintain data accuracy and security.
6. Business Continuity and Improvement Initiatives
- Ensure that all key systems are maintained in a state of readiness to support business continuity.
- Participate in IT and business transformation projects aimed at enhancing system capabilities and user experiences.
- Contribute to post-implementation reviews to assess the impact of new systems or changes and document lessons learned.
Knowledge, Experience, and Personal Attributes
To thrive in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in business analysis, software/application support, or a similar role.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is a significant advantage but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and business process mapping.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database concepts, with an understanding of IT service management practices.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to confidentiality and maintaining high standards of data integrity.
