Locum – Specialist Radiologist (Part Time)

The successful candidate will play a critical role in evaluating, interpreting, and reporting on radiographic images, enabling prompt, accurate diagnoses that contribute to the overall quality of patient outcomes.
About the Role
The Locum Specialist Radiologist will provide part-time diagnostic services, with a strong focus on reviewing and interpreting various imaging procedures, including CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and other radiographic examinations. The position requires strict adherence to diagnostic protocols and medical ethics while ensuring that patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality are preserved at all times.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the Locum Specialist Radiologist at The Nairobi Hospital include but are not limited to the following:
- Medical Imaging Evaluation:
Evaluate patients’ medical histories prior to imaging procedures to ensure that these processes will not harm the patient and to recommend alternative imaging techniques where appropriate. - Patient Communication:
Provide clear and concise communication to patients about the imaging process, including preparation, expectations, and post-procedure considerations. - Conducting Imaging Procedures:
Perform examinations using advanced imaging technologies such as Computer Tomography (CT) scanners and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines. Interpret and document technical findings to assist attending physicians in formulating accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. - Image-Guided Diagnostic Procedures:
Guide or conduct image-guided diagnostic procedures, ensuring adherence to the highest clinical standards and safety protocols. - Diagnostic Interpretation:
Provide comprehensive interpretation of diagnostic images, formulate conclusive reports, and share findings with referring physicians and clinicians. - Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare, compile, and maintain accurate reports detailing imaging findings, diagnoses, and recommendations for further tests or treatments where necessary. - Emergency Support:
Offer immediate diagnostic and procedural support in emergency situations, such as trauma cases, internal bleeding, or infectious disease assessments, ensuring timely interventions. - Clinical Collaboration:
Engage in regular interdisciplinary discussions with fellow clinicians to align diagnostic findings with patient management plans. - Research and Development:
Contribute to ongoing research activities in the radiology department in alignment with the hospital’s strategic vision and commitment to continuous medical improvement. - Protocol Development and Review:
Participate in the review, development, and continuous improvement of radiological protocols, ensuring they reflect best practices, latest technology, and international standards. - Other Duties:
Carry out any additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary to support the radiology department and the hospital’s operational goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Radiology from a recognized university or institution.
- A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from a recognized university.
- Current registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and possession of a valid practicing license.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience practicing radiology in a reputable healthcare facility.
