Position Overview
The Tech-Enabled Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for leading internal audit engagements that leverage technology to deliver smarter, more efficient, and value-driven assurance services. Key Roles and Responsibilities
As a Tech-Enabled Internal Audit Manager at KPMG East Africa, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
1. Leading Tech-Integrated Internal Audits
- Drive high-impact internal audit engagements that integrate advanced tools and technologies such as AI, data analytics, and visualization platforms (e.g., IDEA, Power BI, Tableau).
- Conduct risk-based audits that go beyond traditional compliance to offer meaningful insights and drive operational improvements.
- Apply technology to streamline audit processes, enhance data quality, and identify emerging risks early.
2. Designing Strategic Audit Approaches
- Develop audit plans and strategies that are aligned with globally recognized frameworks such as COSO, SOX, and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
- Ensure that audits are both compliant with standards and tailored to provide actionable recommendations that drive real business value.
- Utilize risk assessment techniques to prioritize high-risk areas and optimize resource allocation during audits.
3. Advisory on Digital Audit Transformation
- Provide advisory services on internal audit modernization and digital transformation strategies.
- Lead discussions and solutions around Robotic Process Automation (RPA), machine learning, predictive analytics, and other technologies that are transforming the audit landscape.
- Assist clients in understanding how to transition from legacy audit processes to modern, technology-driven methodologies.
4. Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Manage and guide multi-disciplinary and cross-border teams to ensure efficient project delivery and quality results.
- Create an environment that fosters learning, creativity, and collaboration among team members.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff, building their competencies in both traditional audit techniques and new-age digital tools.
5. Future-Focused Risk Management
- Stay informed about emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends to ensure that audit engagements are always relevant and future-ready.
- Identify and assess new risk areas, particularly those related to digital transformation, cybersecurity, ESG, and regulatory compliance.
- Help clients anticipate and prepare for disruptions by embedding resilience and agility into internal audit processes.
6. Ad hoc Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time to support the Enterprise Risk Services practice.
- Contribute to business development efforts, thought leadership, and internal innovation projects.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technology-related field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in internal audit, risk advisory, or consulting, with significant exposure to industries such as financial services, manufacturing, or public and development sectors.
- Possession of at least one of the following professional certifications: ACCA, CPA, CISA, or CIA is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
