Globeleq Hiring Electrical Engineer

by Recal

Globeleq, a leading independent power producer, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer to join the team at its flagship Menengai Geothermal Project in Kenya. This is a rare opportunity to be part of one of Kenya’s most significant renewable energy ventures — a 35 MW greenfield geothermal plant that will provide affordable, reliable, and clean baseload power to the national grid.

As Globeleq continues to power Africa’s growth through sustainable energy, the company has partnered with Smart4Energy for this recruitment. If you have any questions about the position or application process, please contact the recruitment team at [email protected].

This detailed job advert outlines the responsibilities, expectations, and strategic importance of the Electrical Engineer role within Globeleq’s Menengai operations.

About the Menengai Geothermal Project

The Menengai Geothermal Power Plant marks Kenya’s second large-scale geothermal development following Olkaria. This greenfield development is part of the broader Menengai geothermal complex and is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2025.

The project is a collaboration between several stakeholders:

  • Globeleq serves as the project shareholder and leads the construction, operation, and long-term management of the plant.
  • Geothermal Development Company (GDC) supplies steam under a 25-year Project Implementation and Steam Supply Agreement (PISSA).
  • Kenya Power, the national distribution utility, will purchase the electricity under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the same 25-year term.

This project plays a pivotal role in Kenya’s commitment to a greener and more resilient energy future.
