Job Summary
The Assistant Relationship Manager – Workplace Banking will be responsible for driving the Workplace Banking business by onboarding new scheme companies, enhancing and deepening existing relationships, and ensuring optimal service delivery and profitability of the portfolio. This role demands an agile and commercially-minded individual with a strategic approach to business development and an ability to manage risk effectively.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development and Portfolio Growth – 55%
The core of the role lies in identifying, onboarding, and nurturing scheme companies within the target market to grow the WPB balance sheet. Specific duties include:
- Collaborating with the Manager Scheme to meet and exceed the annual targets as defined in the Retail Business Plan.
- Signing up new scheme companies and managing existing ones to ensure consistent growth in book balances through regular engagement and tactical promotions.
- Ensuring all sales and support activities align with strategic business directives while effectively managing associated risks and costs.
- Delivering compelling product presentations during on-site activations to showcase the unique value proposition of the bank’s offerings.
- Continuously managing scheme performance by keeping arrears below 4% within the allocated portfolio and minimizing attrition.
- Leading the team with clear direction and fostering a productive working culture that supports achievement of performance goals.
- Ensuring 100% transaction account funding for new accounts and achieving at least 80% penetration within each allocated scheme.
- Attending service open days to resolve customer queries and ensure continued client satisfaction.
- Managing scheme documentation by ensuring each has a signed agreement, valid signatories, and an assigned credit limit.
- Conducting training on scheme-related procedures to minimize fraud and communicating potential credit risks such as cash flow constraints or organizational layoffs.
- Monitoring credit performance to ensure a Credit Loss Ratio below 4%, proactively identifying risks and escalating them to the relevant stakeholders.
- Generating and maintaining sales activity reports and providing timely insights to the business.
- Collaborating with the product teams to develop tailored offerings for clients and assisting in negotiating favorable pricing structures.
- Mobilizing deposits through fixed deposits from companies and individual clients.
- Preparing credit proposals after comprehensive financial analysis of potential clients.
- Ensuring timely submission of monthly payments from scheme companies, with a strict follow-up protocol by the 10th of every month.
2. Relationship Management – 15%
Building and maintaining high-quality relationships is a fundamental component of the role. The key relationship management responsibilities include:
- Cultivating strong connections with scheme contacts through regular courtesy calls, business lunches, and consistent service delivery.
- Keeping an updated record of all schemes under management to ensure no sales opportunities are missed.
- Working closely with the business development team to unearth new business opportunities and deepen existing client engagements.
- Engaging with internal sales teams to align on targets and drive collective sales performance.
- Managing customer expectations by offering timely feedback on product enhancements, credit approvals, and general query resolution.
- Participating in scheme service open days as a visible and accessible representative of the bank.
3. Compliance – 10%
Upholding the integrity of the bank’s operations is critical. The Assistant Relationship Manager will:
- Ensure full disclosure to clients regarding product details, approval requirements, and total cost of credit.
- Confirm that all signed schemes have valid, signed check-off agreements and allocated credit limits.
- Collaborate with the Legal team to monitor and address any breaches in scheme agreements promptly.
4. Business Management – 10%
Efficiently managing resources and operations is crucial for sustained success. The role includes:
- Leveraging Management Information Systems (MIS) to track performance, monitor sales activities, and trigger corrective actions where needed.
- Regularly reviewing and adjusting sales strategies to maintain competitiveness and gain greater market share.
- Supporting the implementation of tactical plans to respond to dynamic market demands.
5. Human Resource Engagement – 10%
Strong leadership and team engagement play a significant role in the success of this role. Responsibilities here include:
- Encouraging a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and open communication to achieve operational excellence.
