These positions are offered on a six-month renewable contract basis and present an exciting chance to contribute meaningfully to the university’s operational and student support systems.

A. Division of Corporate Services – Open Vacancies

1. Administrative Assistant – Grade 9 (Formerly Grade 7)
REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/1/7/2025
Number of Positions: 1
Terms of Employment: 6-month renewable contract

This role is ideal for candidates with strong organizational, coordination, and administrative skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support across various departments, ensuring effective operations and efficient communication within the university system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in documenting and ensuring proper record-keeping of events, activities, and operations in Divisions, Schools, Departments, or Sections.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data as requested by management.
  • Maintain cleanliness in offices and meeting rooms to uphold professional standards.
  • Keep updated records of university assets within assigned areas.
  • Oversee telephone and registry services in various university units.
  • Draft reports and briefing documents to inform decision-making processes.
  • Prepare budgets and procurement plans in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Make requisitions for office stationery, equipment, furniture, and other essential materials.
  • Ensure the security of important records, office equipment, stationery, and furniture.
  • Coordinate transport and logistical needs of respective units.
  • Provide secretariat support during university committee meetings and other official engagements.

2. Assistant Counseling Officer – Grade 9 (Formerly Grade 7)

Number of Positions: 1
Location: Wote Campus
Terms of Employment: 6-month renewable contract

The Assistant Counseling Officer position is a key role aimed at promoting students’ well-being through effective counseling, mentorship, and emotional support. The successful candidate will be based at SEKU’s Wote Campus and will work closely with the student affairs division to implement programs that address social, psychological, and behavioral challenges among students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and counseling services to students facing social and behavioral challenges, with the aim of instilling positive attitudes and correcting undesirable behaviors.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions addressing topics such as substance abuse, stress management, relationships, and personal development.
  • Organize talks, workshops, and lectures on emerging student issues by engaging subject matter experts to equip students with relevant knowledge and life skills.
  • Perform regular follow-ups on students who have received counseling to monitor progress and ensure sustained behavioral change.
  • Refer students requiring specialized or advanced support (such as rehabilitation or medical treatment) to appropriate service providers or institutions.
  • Offer spiritual counseling and mentorship to students as part of a holistic approach to student support services.

3. Principal Clerical Officer – Grade 11 (Formerly Grade 5)

Number of Positions: 1
Terms of Employment: 6-month renewable contract

This is a senior clerical position suitable for experienced professionals with proven administrative, record-keeping, and human resource support capabilities. The Principal Clerical Officer will play a key role in streamlining operational efficiency and supervising junior clerical staff within various university departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verify statistical records submitted by departments for accuracy and consistency.
  • Process human resource and accounting records as required.
  • Maintain and oversee an efficient filing system for all departmental records and correspondence.
  • Ensure the safe custody of documents such as invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
  • Assist in handling staff appointments, promotions, disciplinary cases, and transfers within the HR department.
  • Draft and prepare payment vouchers in accordance with university procedures.
  • Compute financial and statistical records from routine or specially requested data sources.
  • Draft and respond to routine internal and external correspondences.
  • Prepare procurement indents and advertisement requests in accordance with university procurement policies.
  • Support Administrative Officers and Assistants in general clerical functions and office support.
  • Mentor junior clerical officers by providing professional guidance and oversight in daily tasks.
