Based in Nairobi, with a hybrid working arrangement (office, remote, and WFH), this full-time internship begins in September 2025 and runs through February 2026. Synnefa is looking for dynamic and digitally savvy graduates ready to shape the voice and visibility of the brand across multiple digital channels.

Interns will receive a monthly stipend of KES 20,000 and will work closely with the CEO, the marketing team, and cross-functional departments to implement key aspects of the company’s 2025 marketing strategy.

Role Overview

The Marketing and Social Media Interns will be instrumental in executing Synnefa’s marketing roadmap. This position is ideal for individuals with a flair for storytelling, strong writing skills, a creative mindset, and the ability to engage audiences through digital platforms. Interns will support various aspects of marketing including content creation, campaign management, social media coordination, and basic performance analytics.

The position is designed to help interns gain real-world experience in an agile work environment while contributing to the growth of an impact-driven organization.


Detailed Job Description

1. Content Creation & Copywriting

Interns will be responsible for generating original and engaging content that resonates with Synnefa’s diverse audience of farmers, partners, and industry stakeholders. Key tasks will include:

  • Writing blog articles on topics related to agritech, farmer stories, and sustainable practices.
  • Producing company news updates, educational materials, and case studies.
  • Crafting short posts and captions tailored to various platforms.
  • Assisting with the creation of basic visual materials including infographics and short video clips using tools like Canva or Adobe Spark.

Interns will be expected to produce at least 4 long-form content pieces (e.g., blogs or case studies) monthly, complemented by a regular stream of short-form content.

2. Social Media Management

Managing Synnefa’s presence on social media will be a core responsibility. Interns will:

  • Develop and maintain a consistent posting calendar across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Draft and schedule 3–5 posts per platform per week, ensuring brand tone and visual standards are met.
  • Actively monitor engagements, respond to comments/messages, and build meaningful interactions with the online community.
  • Experiment with new formats and engagement tactics to boost visibility.

3. Campaign and Event Support

Interns will play a support role in running marketing campaigns and hosting events. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the drafting of email newsletters and campaign messages.
  • Helping to prepare assets for digital advertising campaigns, including writing ad copy and coordinating visuals.
  • Supporting virtual or physical events such as webinars, demonstrations, and industry expos through promotional content and post-event follow-ups.

4. Audience Growth and Engagement Tracking

To ensure marketing efforts are translating into results, the intern will:

  • Use strategies to attract more followers, such as engaging with online farming communities and initiating relevant conversations.
  • Monitor engagement metrics like shares, likes, comments, and impressions.
  • Recommend adjustments to the content plan based on feedback and data trends.

5. Market and Competitor Research

Remaining competitive requires staying informed. Interns will:

  • Monitor content trends within the agriculture and technology space.
  • Track activities of peer companies and industry influencers.
  • Share insights that can inspire Synnefa’s next blog post, video theme, or campaign idea.

6. Collaborative Content Development

Interns will liaise with other departments to gather content material:

  • Interview agronomists, field agents, or customer support staff to source insights for technical articles or farmer testimonials.
  • Work with the business development team to identify potential success stories or partnership milestones worth highlighting.

This ensures Synnefa’s content reflects real-life impact and aligns with operational achievements.

7. Analytics and Reporting

Interns will be guided on how to track the performance of content using platforms like Google Analytics and social media insights. Key activities include:

  • Reviewing website traffic patterns and blog readership.
  • Measuring engagement and reach on posts across platforms.
  • Monitoring the number of inquiries or leads coming in via content-driven channels.

Key Performance Indicators

To ensure clarity and success in the role, the following metrics will be tracked monthly:

  • Content Output Volume: At least 4 blog posts and regular social content across channels.
  • Social Media Posting & Responsiveness: Consistent weekly posting and prompt audience engagement.
  • Audience Growth: Increase in the number of followers/subscribers per platform.
  • Engagement Rate & Reach: Interaction metrics, including likes, comments, and shares relative to follower base.
  • Lead Generation & Traffic: Leads generated and volume of web traffic from marketing channels.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

Educational Background:

  • Recent graduates (within one year) in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Business, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Creative Writing and Communication Skills:

  • Strong grammar, writing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to shift tone across different formats (technical blog posts, friendly captions, etc.).

Digital and Social Media Savvy:
