Job Objective

The Admissions Intern will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support within the Marketing Department. The role involves handling inquiries from prospective students, ensuring accurate data capture and filing, and facilitating a seamless admissions process. The intern will serve as a key point of contact for first-time university visitors and applicants, supporting communication and documentation processes that are integral to student enrollment.

This internship offers exposure to institutional systems, customer service, marketing support, and the day-to-day operations of a university’s admissions office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting while developing critical professional competencies.


Duties and Responsibilities

The Admissions Intern will work closely with the Marketing and Admissions team to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support:
    Assist the Marketing Department by offering routine administrative assistance, such as managing documents, scheduling appointments, and supporting departmental events related to student recruitment.
  • Responding to Inquiries:
    Attend to inquiries from prospective students and parents made through various channels including phone calls, emails, and walk-ins. This includes providing detailed information about the university’s programs, admission requirements, fee structure, and campus life.
  • Data Entry and Record Management:
    Assist in updating and maintaining accurate records of applicant data. This includes entering information into databases and ensuring all application documentation is properly filed and up to date.
  • Document Preparation:
    Support the preparation, printing, and distribution of admissions documents such as admission letters, brochures, prospectuses, and application forms. Organize and compile required paperwork for internal review and approval processes.
  • Event Support:
    Participate in planning and logistics for university marketing activities such as open days, exhibitions, high school outreach programs, and campus tours for prospective students.
  • Applicant Liaison:
    Act as a liaison between applicants and the university, ensuring all queries are answered in a timely and accurate manner. Guide applicants through each step of the admissions process.
  • Marketing Assistance:
    Provide operational support during digital and physical campaigns aimed at student recruitment. This includes assisting with the coordination of social media responses, event registration, and post-event feedback.
  • Team Collaboration:
    Work collaboratively with other departments and staff to ensure applicants and visitors receive coordinated, accurate, and friendly service.
  • Reporting:
    Assist in compiling basic reports for management on admissions traffic, common applicant queries, and follow-ups on pending or incomplete applications.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet the following minimum academic and professional criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, or Marketing from a recognized university.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Be a hands-on individual with a high level of personal initiative, able to respond to issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Exhibit strong IT and digital literacy skills, particularly in navigating online systems and databases.
  • Be capable of working both independently and collaboratively, showing adaptability and enthusiasm in team environments.
