The Career Service Intern will work closely with the Student Affairs team to support career development initiatives at the university. - Offer general administrative support to the Student Affairs Department.
- Assist in scheduling departmental meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining updated records.
- Support documentation processes and archiving of career services data.
- Coordinate communication with students regarding departmental activities and updates.
- Event Organization and Coordination
- Play a key role in planning and executing career development events such as job fairs, internship expos, employer panels, and student workshops.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including faculty, industry partners, and student organizations to facilitate successful events.
- Assist with logistical arrangements including venue booking, materials preparation, publicity, and attendee registration.
- Participate in evaluating event outcomes by collecting feedback and drafting post-event reports.
- Career Resource Management
- Assist in updating and maintaining career-related resources and content including career guides, job boards, internship listings, and alumni contact lists.
- Support the upkeep and accuracy of the university’s career services database and online platforms.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline student access to job search tools and employability resources.
- Monitor emerging industry trends to ensure students receive relevant and updated career information.
- Student Engagement
- Act as a first point of contact for students seeking career advice or services.
- Guide students on how to access and use available career development tools.
- Promote awareness and participation in university-led professional development activities.
- Support for Special Projects
- Participate in ad-hoc projects related to student mentorship, internship placement, alumni networking, and employer engagement as assigned by the supervisor.
- Contribute to team meetings and brainstorming sessions to improve student affairs programming.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Education, Counselling Psychology, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse student populations and external partners effectively.
- Be a hands-on individual with a strong sense of initiative, able to work independently and respond to issues promptly.
