Product Manager, Sahl Banking

The product manager will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of Sahl products—from identifying opportunities and planning to execution and performance tracking. The role entails defining product vision, aligning backend/frontend operations pre-launch, and ensuring product strategies meet revenue and customer satisfaction goals. The manager will execute product enhancements, monitor market trends and competitor activity, and ensure the product line meets income targets while supporting KCB Sahl’s overall strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the end-to-end execution of the product lifecycle for all Sahl products—including research, planning, positioning, requirements definition, and go-to-market strategy.
  • In liaison with Consumer Research department team Conduct in-depth market research, consumer insight analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform product design and market positioning.
  • Monitor the performance of existing products through periodic reviews, analytics, and customer feedback. Recommend strategic adjustments to ensure product relevance and profitability.
  • Analyse consumer needs and emerging trends to generate new product ideas. Evaluate build-versus-buy options and ROI for potential partnerships or enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and commercialization teams to develop integrated product launch and growth plans.
  • Conduct regular product performance surveys and generate analytical reports with actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure all Sahl products are aligned with KCB Kenya’s overall strategic direction and contribute to the achievement of business targets.
  • Proactively identify potential product risks, performance gaps, or operational challenges, and lead mitigation planning.
  • Recommend adjustments to current product lines and packaging by evaluating specifications, market demand, and customer feedback.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive product uptake, customer acquisition, and portfolio growth across all applicable channels. 

The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university is required
  • Professional Qualifications in Islamic Finance certification, Product Development certification/Project management Certification will be advantageous.
  • A master’s degree will be an additional advantage
  • 5 years’ total minimum of working experience is required together with the following:
  • 2 years’ experience in people management
  • 3 years’ experience in relationship management
  • 4 years’ experience in product development/Management      
  • 1 year experience in credit management
  • 1 year experience in banking operations
  • 2 years’ experience in stakeholder management
  • 2 years’ experience in business case/Proposal development
  • 1 year experience in data/financial analysis
  • 2 years’ Experience in Islamic Banking is desired
