Job Purpose Statement

The Relationship Manager, Corporate Banking, will be tasked with developing, maintaining, and deepening long-term relationships with a portfolio of corporate clients across diverse sectors. The role will focus on enhancing revenue growth through cross-selling, digital adoption, and the provision of innovative financial solutions. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor, collaborating with internal departments to deliver seamless client experiences and strengthen Old Mutual’s corporate footprint in the financial services landscape.

Detailed Job Description

1. Strategic Client Relationship Management

The Relationship Manager will play a central role in managing and expanding Old Mutual’s corporate client base. Key responsibilities under this function include:

  • Developing and maintaining strong banking relationships with corporate clients in key sectors of the economy.
  • Acting as the main liaison for corporate clients, providing support and solutions tailored to their unique business needs.
  • Conducting regular business reviews and site visits to assess client satisfaction, identify service gaps, and propose enhancements.
  • Organizing and leading client engagement forums, representing the bank in high-level networking events and industry summits.
  • Strengthening the visibility and market positioning of Old Mutual’s corporate banking services through thought leadership and active participation in industry circles.

2. Business Development and Revenue Growth

A significant portion of the role involves driving sustainable business growth through customer acquisition and product penetration. Specific duties include:

  • Identifying and onboarding high-value corporate clients that align with Old Mutual’s strategic growth goals.
  • Selling a broad range of corporate banking products, including trade finance, cash management, treasury services, loans, foreign exchange, and investment solutions.
  • Presenting financial proposals and customized banking packages to prospective clients, often in coordination with product teams.
  • Participating in financial literacy initiatives and sales activations alongside other departments to increase awareness of Old Mutual’s corporate offerings.
  • Promoting digital adoption by demonstrating the value of integrated platforms such as Host-to-Host, Internet banking, and Digi for enhanced transaction efficiency.

3. Credit Analysis and Risk Management

The Relationship Manager will be a key player in ensuring the quality and performance of the corporate loan portfolio. Core responsibilities include:

  • Conducting in-depth credit appraisals and financial due diligence for loan applications.
  • Preparing and submitting credit proposals in line with bank policies and regulatory guidelines.

  • Immediate escalation of potential compliance or AML issues to the Risk and Compliance Office for further investigation.
