Job Description:
The Credit Officer will report directly to the Head of Credit and play a vital role in the management and coordination of the hospital’s claims processing and credit services. This includes supervision of the credit team, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of billing information, and timely invoicing for medical services rendered. The officer will also manage cash patient transactions and serve as the key liaison between the hospital and healthcare insurance providers.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the preparation, verification, and submission of invoices for medical services to ensure they meet required standards.
  • Tracking and accounting for all invoices dispatched to insurers or corporate clients.
  • Following up on pending claims and ensuring timely response to insurance-related queries.
  • Engaging healthcare service providers and insurers for the resolution of any billing or documentation issues.
  • Providing training and guidance to hospital staff on billing and claims processing requirements.
  • Managing the daily operations of credit officers at the hospital level to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Monitoring cash patient accounts, managing outstanding balances, and enforcing credit control policies.
  • Preparing regular reports on accounts receivable and claims processing performance for review by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related course
  • Professional qualification in credit management
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position
  • Comprehensive understanding of healthcare insurance processes and standards

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of medical claims processes, requirements, and documentation standards
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in billing operations
  • Critical thinking and effective problem-solving capabilities
