Job Description:
The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be tasked with ensuring the accurate preparation, safe dispensing, and efficient distribution of medications in accordance with prescriptions and institutional policies. The role requires adherence to regulatory standards and the ability to provide exceptional pharmaceutical services within a busy hospital setting.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Dispensing medications accurately and advising patients and clinical staff on proper drug usage.
- Ensuring compliance with all legal, safety, and hospital-specific regulations regarding pharmaceuticals.
- Managing stock levels of medications and supplies, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining inventory records.
- Monitoring drug storage conditions and maintaining a clean, organized dispensary.
- Supporting pharmacovigilance efforts and reporting any adverse drug reactions.
- Educating patients on dosage, side effects, and possible drug interactions.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing pharmaceutical service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
- Valid license with the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board (KPPB)
- Minimum of four (4) years post-registration experience in a busy hospital environment
