Job Purpose
The Field Sales Executive – Upcountry will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities in upcountry territories outside Nairobi. This role involves working closely with potential and existing customers to understand their logistics needs, propose customized DHL solutions, and ensure sustained business growth through superior service delivery and client engagement.
The role requires a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for achieving and exceeding sales targets while upholding the core values of the DHL brand.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development and Client Acquisition
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in assigned upcountry territories.
- Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to inform sales strategies.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline of qualified leads across various industries.
- Generate revenue by acquiring new clients and introducing DHL’s service offerings.
- Engage prospects through cold calls, field visits, presentations, and sales pitches.
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Build long-lasting relationships with clients by understanding their logistics challenges and recommending tailored DHL solutions.
- Provide outstanding customer service and ensure the successful onboarding of new clients.
- Conduct regular client visits to assess satisfaction levels and identify new opportunities for value addition.
- Address customer concerns proactively and escalate complex issues to appropriate departments when necessary.
3. Sales Target Achievement
- Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets as defined by the Sales Manager.
- Prepare and present sales performance reports highlighting key metrics and business trends.
- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, customer service, finance) to ensure end-to-end service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed records of all sales activities in the company’s CRM system and ensure up-to-date client data.
4. Territory Management
- Manage and develop the upcountry sales territory including towns and regions outside Nairobi such as Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Meru, Nyeri, Embu, and others.
- Strategically plan sales trips and field visits in alignment with territory potential and business goals.
- Evaluate territory performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective action where necessary.
5. Market Intelligence and Feedback
- Collect market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development and service improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on DHL services, pricing models, global trends in logistics, and industry best practices.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the Sales Manager for strategy refinement and new product opportunities.

Reporting Line
The Field Sales Executive – Upcountry will report directly to the Sales Manager, Business Development Division, DHL Worldwide Express Kenya.
Working Conditions
- Location: Nairobi (with frequent field visits to upcountry regions as required).
- Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for occasional weekend travel or client engagements.
- Travel: Field visits to clients in upcountry Kenya (less than 25% travel expected annually).
