JOB TITLE: PHARMACEUTICAL STOCK CONTROLLER
REPORTS TO: CLINICAL PHARMACIST/ PROCUREMENT MANAGER
a) Job Purpose
The Stock Controller is responsible for receiving pharmaceutical products, documentation, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure the continuous availability of medical supplies. The role focuses on timely stock replenishment, reducing wastage from expiry or overstocking, and ensuring adherence to hospital inventory management policies.
b) Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify all delivered items against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Generate the goods received notes, invoices and other documents.
- Apply First-In-First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) principles to reduce wastage.
- Issuing drugs to the dispensing pharmacy.
- Proactively initiate timely reorder requests based on consumption rates and stock thresholds.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with recorded inventory balances.
- Promptly report any stock variances, slow-moving items, or identified losses.
- Ensure proper storage conditions are maintained, including adherence to cold chain requirements where applicable.
c) Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
- Valid practicing license.
- Training in Procurement, stock management, supply chain or Stores Management.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a hospital or health-related stock management role.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
