Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Hiring Office Assistant

The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, through the State Department for Wildlife, is undertaking the implementation of the project ‘‘Advancing Human-Wildlife Conflict Management Effectiveness in Kenya through an Integrated Approach.” This is a five-year initiative under the Global Environment Fund (GEF) 8 Global Wildlife Program (GWP). The project will be implemented in partnership with Conservation International (CI) as the GEF-accredited agency, with the State Department for Wildlife serving as the Lead Executing Agency.

The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the effectiveness of human-wildlife conflict management in Kenya through the adoption of an integrated, multi-stakeholder approach. This will involve the strengthening of institutional capacity, improved coordination of interventions, and enhanced engagement with communities affected by human-wildlife conflicts.

In line with the project’s operational requirements, the State Department for Wildlife invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position.


Office Assistant – Advert No. 7/2025

Number of Positions: One (1)
Terms of Service: Two (2) Year Contract
Gross Monthly Remuneration: Ksh. 60,000

  • Monthly Basic Salary: Ksh. 40,000
  • Monthly Allowances: Ksh. 20,000

At the end of the contract term, the successful candidate will be entitled to a gratuity payment calculated at the rate of 31% of the basic monthly salary for the total number of months worked.

The Office Assistant will be based at the project offices and will report directly to the Technical Lead. The role requires a proactive, organised, and reliable professional capable of supporting smooth office operations and providing administrative and logistical assistance to the project team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake, but will not be limited to, the following duties:

a) Drafting simple letters and official correspondence as directed.
b) Maintaining the diary and scheduling appointments for the project office.
c) Receiving and attending to visitors in a professional manner.
d) Ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of the project offices at all times.
e) Performing messengerial duties, including delivery and collection of documents.
f) Providing hospitality services to guests, including preparation and serving of refreshments.

Requirements for Appointment

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

i. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) C minus or above.
ii. Proficiency in computer applications.
iii. Certificate in hospitality.
iv. Certificate in Public Relations and Customer Care will be an added advantage.

Job Specifications

  • Ability to work extended hours to meet strict project deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
