KCA University has announced exciting opportunities for qualified professionals to join its academic team as Part-Time Lecturers in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The university is seeking 15 part-time lecturers who will be instrumental in facilitating both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, research, and academic advisory services. The positions are well-suited for candidates with academic experience, strong research capabilities, and a passion for mentoring students toward achieving academic and professional excellence.


Job Objective

The primary responsibility of the part-time lecturer will be to facilitate quality learning through teaching, academic advisory, research engagement, and administrative duties. The role is focused on ensuring that students in the field of data science and artificial intelligence receive an outstanding learning experience while aligning with the institution’s academic standards and strategic objectives.


Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for a broad range of academic and administrative tasks to ensure effective teaching and student support. The duties and responsibilities include:

  • Teaching and facilitating learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and other instructional methods as assigned by the Chair of Department.
  • Developing, administering, and marking examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tests in accordance with university regulations.
  • Preparing learning materials, schemes of work, and maintaining proper records to track student progress, achievement, and attendance.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and feedback to students to support their academic and personal growth, and referring them to appropriate support services where necessary.
  • Contributing to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum that meets academic and industry standards.
  • Participating in the preparation and submission of research proposals, and applying for competitive research grants.
  • Actively contributing to departmental and faculty seminars, promoting knowledge sharing, research dissemination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Offering academic advising and counselling to students, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
  • Taking part in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees and working groups as assigned.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development, training, and staff development programs to enhance teaching and research skills.
  • Maintaining accurate records of examinations, assignments, and assessments, ensuring timely entry into the university’s examination records management system.
  • Attending departmental, faculty, and university meetings to collaborate with fellow staff members on academic and administrative matters.
  • Carrying out any other responsibilities assigned from time to time in line with the needs of the department and the university.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must demonstrate academic and professional competence in the field of information technology, computer science, or related disciplines. The qualifications required include:

  • A Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Possession of a PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline will be considered an added advantage.
  • At least three years of teaching experience at the university level, with evidence of excellence in delivery and student engagement.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and review processes.
  • Candidates who have attained the academic rank of Senior Lecturer will have a distinct advantage.

Skills and Competencies

In addition to academic qualifications and teaching experience, candidates are expected to possess key skills and competencies necessary for success in this role. These include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts effectively.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, adaptable to diverse student needs.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to support evidence-based teaching and knowledge creation.

  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail, ensuring efficiency in both teaching and administrative tasks.
