The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) has announced its upcoming industrial attachment opportunities for students who are currently pursuing various courses in recognized institutions. These opportunities are designed to equip students with hands-on skills and practical exposure in their respective areas of study, while also contributing to the Corporation’s mission of providing sustainable energy solutions through renewable energy and rural electrification.

Attachments are a valuable platform for bridging the gap between theory and practice. They allow students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios while interacting with professionals who have extensive experience in the field. Through this program, REREC seeks to nurture talent and provide students with an appreciation of what it takes to deliver efficient and reliable socio-economic transformation through energy.

The Corporation has opened attachments in several departments covering both technical and administrative fields. The program will run in three different intakes, each lasting for a period of three months. These opportunities are strictly non-renewable. The intakes are scheduled for October 2025, January 2026, and April 2026.

The following are the available areas of attachment, with details of the roles and responsibilities under each department.


Engineering Department

Students attached to the Engineering Department will have an opportunity to work closely with engineers and technicians involved in designing, constructing, and maintaining renewable energy and rural electrification projects. The roles in this department are centered on infrastructure development, field supervision, and monitoring of projects to ensure they are delivered to specification and within timelines.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in conducting field surveys for proposed electrification and renewable energy projects.
  • Supporting the preparation of technical drawings and project designs.
  • Participating in the installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical systems in rural electrification projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project reports and documentation.
  • Observing and learning quality assurance processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and safety requirements.
  • Supporting engineers in monitoring the progress of ongoing projects and preparing status updates.

Through this attachment, students will gain practical skills in project design, implementation, and supervision within the renewable energy sector.


Finance Department

The Finance Department plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability and proper management of financial resources within the Corporation. Students attached to this department will learn about financial processes, records management, and compliance with financial policies.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of financial documents such as invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
  • Supporting the preparation of periodic financial reports and statements.
  • Participating in data entry, reconciliation of accounts, and updating financial records.
  • Assisting in audits and compliance checks by preparing relevant documents.
  • Learning how budgets are developed, monitored, and evaluated.
  • Supporting staff in maintaining orderly filing systems for financial records.

This attachment will enable students to understand the role of financial management in the smooth operation of a public organization.


Human Resources Department

The Human Resources Department is central to workforce management and employee support services. Students attached here will be exposed to the practices of recruitment, staff welfare, performance management, and compliance with employment laws.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the recruitment process, including shortlisting and scheduling interviews.
  • Supporting induction and onboarding activities for new employees and interns.
  • Assisting in updating and maintaining personnel records and databases.
  • Participating in staff welfare initiatives and documentation of employee relations matters.
  • Assisting in preparing reports on training, performance management, and staff movements.
  • Learning about labor laws, workplace policies, and compliance procedures.

This attachment will provide students with a practical appreciation of how human resources management contributes to organizational performance.


Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department

The ICT Department supports the Corporation’s digital infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of systems and networks. Students attached here will gain exposure to the management of hardware, software, and digital platforms that support organizational efficiency.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and networks.
  • Supporting staff in troubleshooting and resolving IT-related issues.
  • Participating in data management, backups, and ensuring system security.
  • Assisting in the development and updating of software applications.
  • Supporting network monitoring and performance reporting.
  • Documenting ICT support processes and maintaining user manuals.

Through this attachment, students will gain hands-on experience in ICT support, system administration, and emerging digital solutions.


Procurement Department

The Procurement Department ensures that the Corporation obtains goods and services efficiently and in compliance with applicable procurement laws.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in preparing procurement plans and requests for quotations.
  • Supporting the preparation and processing of purchase orders and contracts.
  • Participating in supplier evaluation and documentation.
  • Assisting in maintaining procurement records and ensuring proper filing.
  • Supporting compliance checks to ensure adherence to procurement regulations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of procurement reports for management.

This attachment will expose students to procurement procedures and public procurement regulations.


Communication and Public Relations Department

The Communication and Public Relations Department manages the Corporation’s brand image, stakeholder relations, and public engagement. Students in this department will be exposed to both internal and external communication practices.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in drafting press releases, newsletters, and official communication materials.
  • Supporting the coordination of corporate events, exhibitions, and public awareness campaigns.
  • Participating in media monitoring and preparing reports on coverage of the Corporation’s activities.
  • Assisting in updating content on social media platforms and the official website.
  • Supporting the production of promotional materials and photography.
  • Assisting in stakeholder engagement and documentation of feedback.

This attachment will provide practical exposure to corporate communication and public relations strategies.


Legal Department

The Legal Department provides advisory and compliance services to the Corporation. Students attached here will gain insight into legal processes within a corporate and public sector environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the drafting and review of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
  • Supporting the preparation of reports on compliance and governance matters.
  • Assisting in legal research and preparation of briefs.
  • Supporting the monitoring of changes in laws and regulations affecting the Corporation.
  • Assisting in documentation and filing of legal records.
  • Participating in meetings and preparing minutes where legal matters are discussed.

This attachment will enhance students’ understanding of corporate law and governance in the energy sector.


Internal Audit Department

The Internal Audit Department ensures that internal processes and controls are effective in safeguarding the Corporation’s resources.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in conducting internal audits and preparing audit reports.
  • Supporting risk assessments and identifying areas requiring control improvements.
  • Assisting in verifying financial records and operational data.
  • Supporting the monitoring of compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assisting in documenting audit findings and recommendations.
  • Participating in follow-up activities to assess the implementation of audit recommendations.

This attachment will allow students to learn about risk management and accountability mechanisms in a public institution.


Duration of Attachment

The industrial attachment period will last for three months, strictly non-renewable. The program will run in three intakes as follows:

  1. October 2025
  2. January 2026
  3. April 2026
