Job Summary

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation of KRA staff, authorized passengers, goods, and work-related materials. The role requires adherence to the Traffic Act, KRA’s internal transport policies, and other relevant government regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be expected to undertake the following responsibilities:

  1. Drive KRA vehicles as may be assigned and authorized.
  2. Adhere to KRA’s transport policies and guidelines, relevant traffic laws, and government regulations in order to ensure compliance and proper management of government vehicles.
  3. Manage and maintain assigned vehicles by performing routine checks such as oil, water, battery, brakes, and tyre pressure.
  4. Detect and carry out minor repairs where possible and promptly report vehicle malfunctions for proper maintenance.
  5. Plan transportation routes in consideration of road and traffic conditions, ensuring that work tickets are properly authorized.
  6. Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle by ensuring regular cleaning and upkeep.
  7. Schedule vehicle servicing and inspection, liaising with relevant offices to guarantee timely maintenance.
  8. Ensure the safety and security of the vehicle, tools, passengers, and goods; promptly report incidents to the police and/or the office.
  9. Ensure that the vehicle’s insurance and license (where applicable) remain valid at all times.
  10. Accurately log fuel consumption, maintenance transactions, and manage the fuel card responsibly.
  11. Undertake clerical, messengerial, and other routine duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

For appointment to this position, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Mean Grade D or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant driving experience.
  • Valid Driving License free from any current endorsements, valid for vehicle classes B/C/D/E. Classes A and G will be an added advantage.
  • Suitability Trade Test for Driver’s Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate Course (minimum one week) from St. John Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized institution.
  • Certificate in Defensive Driving from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the National Police Service.

  • Tick the check box provided to finalize your profile creation.
