Currently the Bank is seeking additional talent to serve in the role of Assistant Manager – AuditJOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Manager will support the internal audit function to achieve its goals and objectives by using effective, contemporary audit practices and methodologies to achieve the agreed internal audit objectives. Responsible for developing and implementing audit plans and programs to ensure adequate controls are established by business units. The Assistant manager oversees various areas of audit planning, audit execution, audit supervision, audit communication and management of complex audit engagements. The Assistant manager will work closely with audit managers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supervision of senior internal audit officers/audit officers during execution of audit engagements
- Management of audit assignments and providing leadership to the audit team
- Being the liaison person between the audit customers and audit team, leading teams during entry and exit conferences to agree on audit objectives, scope, recommendations and implementation schedules
- Developing programs and work plans for evaluating internal controls and ensuring that they meet international Auditing standards and assignment objectives.
- Identifying business risks and control weaknesses, assessing their likelihood of occurrence and potential impact and making recommendations to management to mitigate the risks.
- Appraising the soundness, adequacy, application and efficiency of accounting and operational controls established to mitigate business risks
- Ensuring audit work is documented, reviewed and signed off in teammate.
- Ensuring that audit findings are supported by sufficient, reliable and relevant audit evidence.
- Discussing audit issues with the process owners and ensuring that their responses including corrective action plans are agreed on.
- Preparing timely and clear audit reports in line with auditing standards.
- Assisting audit managers to prepare Board Papers.
- Carrying out adhoc assignments e.g investigations.
- General administrative duties as may be assigned from time to timey.
Qualifications
CRITICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCES
- Excellent understanding of Audit standards and international standards in accounting.
- Should have experience of between 4 to 6 years cumulatively gained from internal audit or external audit.
- Knowledge of business operations, macro environment and control environment.
- Good understanding of banking regulations
- Excellent knowledge of bank products and processes
- Team leader with good interpersonal skills
- Should have good logical and analytical skills
- Above average knowledge in IT and applications controls
- Proficiency in data analysis
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and demonstrate a good level of maturity
- Strong problem solving skills
