PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, a leading mission-based healthcare institution, is seeking a highly competent and motivated individual to fill the position of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Manager. The hospital is dedicated to providing quality, affordable healthcare and training services driven by Christian values and has four units namely, General, Eye, Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation, and Dental. In addition, the hospital has a School of Nursing, and a satellite clinic which is located at Matasia in Ngong. Position Title: ICT Manager.
Location: PCEA Kikuyu Hospital
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Employment Type: Full-time, may require on-call support for emergencies.
Job Summary:
The ICT Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of all information and communication technology systems within the hospital. This role ensures seamless IT operations, cybersecurity, data integrity, and efficient support for hospital staff to enhance patient care and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design, implement, and maintain the hospitals ICT infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, and software systems.
· Ensure high availability, security, and performance of IT systems (e.g., EHR, HIS, telemedicine, and communication tools).
· Oversee system upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
· Manage and optimize the hospitals EHR/HIS for efficient patient data management.
· Train and support staff in using clinical and administrative IT systems.
· Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, or local laws).
· Implement and enforce IT security policies to safeguard patient and hospital data.
· Monitor systems for vulnerabilities and respond to cyber threats.
· Conduct regular staff awareness programs on cybersecurity best practices.
· Lead the ICT support team in resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
· Ensure timely troubleshooting and minimal downtime for critical systems.
· Maintain an inventory of IT assets and manage procurement.
· Develop IT strategies aligned with the hospitals mission and operational needs.
· Prepare and manage the ICT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
· Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency.
· Liaise with departments (clinical, administration, finance) to identify IT needs.
· Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and regulatory bodies.
· Support telemedicine and digital health initiatives.
Qualifications & Competencies:
· Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (Masters preferred).
· Certifications (Preferred): ITIL, CCNA, CISSP, PMP, or healthcare IT certifications
· Five years in IT management, preferably in healthcare.
· Networking (LAN/WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi), server administration (Windows/Linux).
· EHR/HIS management (e.g., OpenMRS, HMIS).
· Cybersecurity, cloud computing, and database management.
