Job Description
We are excited to enhance experiential learning within clinical settings by ensuring that students are effectively placed and receive dedicated support at various facilities. The Clinical Instructor will collaborate closely with the Program Coordinators to fulfil their responsibilities while actively contributing to the department’s key performance indicators and the university’s overarching mission and vision. Together, we can create a vibrant and enriching learning environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide teaching, supervision, direct instruction, and guidance to students in a clinical setting.
- Support curriculum implementation by aligning clinical experiences with learning objectives.
- Organise and schedule clinical placements and rotations, and evaluate student performance and progress.
- Conduct orientation sessions for students at clinical sites, including schedules.
- Collaborate with relevant officers to establish MOUs with facilities for nursing students’ clinical placements.
- Ensure timely payments to clinical assessors.
- Supervise and deliver practical instruction on skills and procedures in the skills lab and clinical settings.
- Manage supplies to ensure all necessary materials are available for skills practice in the skills laboratory.
- Monitor student progress to ensure all learning objectives are met.
- Conduct both formative and summative clinical assessments.
- Offer academic advising to nursing students.
- Act as a role model and mentor for nursing students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Valid practice license
- Membership of a professional body
Experience
- At least three (3) years of professional experience at a recognized and busy hospital.
- At least one (1) year of teaching experience at a university/college
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrate high level of integrity
- Demonstrate marketing capability
