Job Description
We’re excited to develop, manage, and monitor our Nursing and Midwifery Sciences programs at the university! Our dedicated lecturers play a crucial role in delivering high-quality teaching that aligns with our university’s strategy and values. They not only engage in innovative practices but also participate in research, connect with the community, and foster valuable partnerships. The Senior Lecturer – Medical Surgical Nursing will collaborate closely with the Head of Department, contributing to our department’s key performance indicators and helping us achieve the university’s inspiring mission and vision. Together, we can make a positive impact in the field of nursing and midwifery!
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and train in the fields of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences.
- Develop and review curricula.
- Engage in grant writing, research, and innovation activities.
- Participate in departmental fundraising activities.
- Supervise and mentor students.
- Mentor junior staff members.
- Publish research findings and disseminate knowledge through various channels.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and accreditation requirements set by relevant regulatory bodies.
- Support the Head of Department and other program leaders in managing the ongoing strategic development and administration of programs within the department.
- Assess students’ overall performance by setting and marking assignments, conducting practical sessions, supervising fieldwork, and evaluating examinations, while providing appropriate feedback.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Head of Department, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, as needed.
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a PhD in Nursing (Medical Surgical Nursing) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- Evidence of peer-reviewed publications, with a minimum of 28 points earned since being appointed as a lecturer or senior lecturer.
- Registration with relevant professional bodies is required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at the university level as a lecturer, or at least six (6) years of industry experience in the relevant field.
- Experience supervising at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a lecturer.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and accreditation requirements of relevant regulatory organizations; ability to contribute to program accreditation and quality control processes.
- Experience in grant writing and a demonstrated ability to lead research projects, secure funding, and generate income are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of active participation in research activities.
- Demonstrated capability in fundraising.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- High level of integrity.
- Ability to develop ideas for generating income and promoting the subject area.
- Marketing capabilities are desirable.
