Murang’a County Government, with support from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is spearheading a groundbreaking digital initiative aimed at elevating public service delivery. The County has established a Geographical Information System (GIS) Laboratory at the Lands Offices in Murang’a Town. This GIS Lab, powered by modern satellite-based technology, is designed to capture, analyze, manage, and present geographical and spatial data.
As part of this digitization agenda, the County has also secured funding from the World Bank under the Kenya Urban Support Programme – Urban Institutional Grant. The grant includes a significant digitization component that will transform how public services are accessed, managed, and delivered. Central to this initiative is the upcoming data collection exercise scheduled between 15th and 26th September 2025. The exercise will focus on inputting key datasets into the GIS system to ensure accurate planning, improved governance, and effective service delivery.
To successfully implement this initiative, Murang’a County Government invites applications from qualified individuals for short-term engagements as Enumerators. These enumerators will play a critical role in conducting the Census, gathering accurate and reliable data that will form the foundation of the Murang’a App – a one-stop digital shop that will integrate all County services.
This recruitment presents an exciting opportunity for young professionals eager to contribute to a transformative project that will leave a lasting impact on the lives of Murang’a citizens.

Digitization is expected to minimize fraudulent licenses, fake business permits, and other forms of malpractice by ensuring data authenticity. - Secure Data Storage
The GIS system will ensure the safe, long-term storage of citizens’ records and data, enhancing reliability and accessibility. - Integration with National Systems
County data will be harmonized with existing national systems such as ArdhiSasa, ensuring interoperability across governance structures. - Creation of the Murang’a App
Ultimately, the digitization will culminate in the development of a comprehensive “Murang’a App” that integrates all county services into a single, easy-to-use digital platform.
