Job Description – Digital Communications Intern

Role Overview

The Digital Communications Intern will report to the Editorial and Digital Marketing Senior Specialist while collaborating with other members of the Communications team. The role involves supporting the development of digital storytelling and editorial content across multiple platforms.

This position is suited for a motivated individual with a passion for digital content creation and social impact storytelling. The intern will gain exposure to the full cycle of communications work, including ideation, coordination, content drafting, production, and editorial review.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with teams to align on project timelines, ensuring that deliverables are met within agreed deadlines.
  • Mobilize resources needed for digital campaigns and communications projects.
  • Maintain and update content planning workflows, including editorial calendars and production schedules.
  • Support project managers in monitoring progress and troubleshooting delays or obstacles to ensure smooth execution of communication initiatives.

2. Content Creation

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate fresh concepts and creative ideas for One Acre Fund’s digital platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of employer branding content and initiatives targeting youth and women audiences.
  • Support visual and written content creation for campaigns, presentations, and internal communications.
  • Assist in drafting and formatting material for use across social media, newsletters, websites, and other platforms.

3. Copywriting Support

  • Draft engaging, audience-appropriate copy for various digital channels, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and newsletters.
  • Ensure that all copy aligns with the organization’s tone, messaging guidelines, and branding strategy.
  • Edit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, and grammatical correctness.
  • Adapt written material for multiple formats and audiences, tailoring messages to fit specific campaign goals.

4. Production Logistics

  • Assist in organizing interviews, video shoots, and other production-related activities.
  • Schedule participants, prepare scripts or interview questions, and manage logistical requirements for production.
  • Provide support during on-the-ground production, including coordination of filming, photography, and event coverage.
  • Track production resources and maintain organized records of materials for future use.

5. Editorial Support

  • Compile monthly content digests for internal distribution, highlighting communication achievements, updates, and upcoming initiatives.
  • Assist in editing and finalizing articles, blog posts, and other editorial content.
  • Support the preparation of reports, case studies, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Coordinate review processes, ensuring timely feedback collection and incorporation of edits from relevant stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace tools.

Location and Benefits

The role is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Interns will receive a reasonable stipend for the duration of the internship to support their engagement in the program.

This position is open exclusively to citizens or permanent residents of Kenya.

The internship is expected to commence in October 2025, with flexibility for earlier availability where possible.
