IOM Hiring Senior Information Management Associate (Better Migration Management Project)

by Recal

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Migration Agency, is inviting applications for the position of Senior Information Management Associate under the Better Migration Management (BMM) Project. This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

IOM is an intergovernmental organization established in 1951 and currently has 174 Member States. It is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of migrants and society. The organization is active in over 400 field locations worldwide and works closely with governments, partners, and civil society to respond to the operational challenges of migration and mobility, improve understanding of migration issues, encourage social and economic development through migration, and uphold the dignity and well-being of migrants.

The Regional Office for the East, Horn, and Southern Africa oversees and supports IOM’s activities across multiple countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, and many others in the region. Through technical expertise, the regional office provides oversight in areas such as project review, resource mobilization, coordination with UN agencies, and implementation support.

The Better Migration Management (BMM) programme is a regional, multi-year initiative co-funded by the European Union Trust Fund for Africa and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is coordinated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and implemented by several partners, including IOM, UNODC, and CIVIPOL.

This programme focuses on strengthening migration management in the region, with specific emphasis on addressing trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants. It seeks to enhance migration governance at national and regional levels, improve cross-border cooperation among state and non-state actors, and strengthen protection and assistance mechanisms for victims of trafficking and vulnerable migrants. The programme also emphasizes the gender dimensions of trafficking and the unique vulnerabilities of women and children.

The Senior Information Management Associate will play an important role in supporting the implementation of the programme by contributing to coordination, data management, reporting, and communication efforts.
