Job Title: Electricity, Physics or Mathematics Teacher

Job Grade: 6

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons in line with the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum. The role will ensure learners achieve both academic excellence and personal growth while upholding the values and mission of the Academy.


Key Accountabilities

1. Planning and Delivery

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons that meet CBE curriculum standards.
  • Design unit and lesson plans, course outlines, and records of work in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Incorporate technology, innovative pedagogy, and active learning strategies.
  • Use flipped learning models for home assignments and provide intervention support where necessary.

2. Assessment

  • Design formative and summative assessments aligned with CBE requirements.
  • Provide timely, constructive verbal and written feedback to learners.
  • Prepare academic progress reports and administer examinations effectively.
  • Contribute to setting and moderating assessments to maintain quality and fairness.
  • Analyze learners’ performance data to inform lesson planning and targeted intervention.

3. Classroom Management

  • Ensure punctuality and consistent lesson delivery.
  • Maintain discipline in class, within the school compound, and during academic excursions.
  • Utilize resources effectively to maximize teaching outcomes.
  • Use the Academy’s learning management system efficiently.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive teaching environment that motivates learners.

4. Other Professional Responsibilities

  • Undertake pastoral duties, including homeroom tutoring, to support learners’ holistic development.
  • Lead and participate in co-curricular and life skills activities.
  • Contribute actively to departmental meetings and whole-school culture development.
  • Pursue continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities offered by the Academy.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Keep an updated professional portfolio and engage in reflective teaching practices.
  • Attend to any additional tasks assigned by the Head of Department, Head of Academics, or Director of Teaching and Learning.

Technical and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education with specialization in Physics, Mathematics, or Electricity.
  • Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience in a comparable institution.
  • Strong ability to create a supportive learning environment that fosters academic excellence.
  • High level of professionalism with strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent data interpretation and analysis abilities.
