Role Purpose
The Agriculture & Biology Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing learners effectively, and ensuring all students are supported to meet their academic potential. The role requires commitment to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum, use of innovative teaching strategies, and adherence to the Academy’s values.
Key Accountabilities
Planning and Delivery
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons in line with CBE standards.
- Collaborate in designing unit/lesson plans, course outlines, and maintaining records of work.
- Integrate technology, active learning strategies, and assessment-driven teaching approaches.
- Implement flipped learning methods for home assignments.
- Support intervention programs to assist learners with challenges.
Assessment
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments aligned with CBE.
- Provide timely, constructive verbal and written feedback to learners.
- Generate academic progress reports and oversee examinations.
- Participate in setting and moderating assessments to meet curriculum standards.
- Analyze learners’ performance to guide instruction and interventions.
Classroom Management
- Ensure punctuality and consistent adherence to the school timetable.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom, on campus, and during academic trips.
- Use resources efficiently to promote effective teaching outcomes.
- Utilize the Academy’s Learning Management System (LMS) effectively.
- Create and maintain a stimulating teaching and learning environment.
Professional Responsibilities
- Undertake pastoral duties, including serving as a homeroom tutor.
- Actively contribute to co-curricular and life skills programs.
- Participate in departmental collaborations and school-wide initiatives.
- Take ownership of professional development through CPD opportunities.
- Maintain professional communication and positive collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Support the development of a strong school culture and ethos.
- Participate in the school’s appraisal system and track personal growth through a professional portfolio.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the HOD, Head of Academics, or Director of Teaching and Learning.
Technical and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with Agriculture and Biology as a subject combination.
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a comparable institution.
- Strong ability to create a supportive environment for learners and educators.
- Professionalism in conduct, communication, and delivery.
- Demonstrable planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
