The Assistant Director, Ports and Shipping Services will play a central role in ensuring effective oversight of Kenya’s port and shipping operations. This role involves coordination with port authorities, shipping companies, and other maritime stakeholders to ensure compliance with international standards and efficiency in maritime logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate port operations and shipping services in line with international conventions and national legislation.
  • Monitor compliance with the Merchant Shipping Act and ensure the smooth regulation of maritime operations within Kenyan waters.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing port efficiency, competitiveness, and service delivery.
  • Advise management on port operations policy, shipping regulation, and industry best practices.

  • Lead in the formulation and execution of human resource strategies, policies, and procedures.
